Starting a new series!!! For the 85th Anniversary (1977) salute to Walkersville, a wonderful locally produced book called "The Tale of Two Villages" was printed. I believe copies can still be obtained from Town Hall, and it is an excellent read on the history of our fine Town.
I will try to recapture in photos as much of the book in current time as I can. There are only a few pics in the book, but I will try to put today's pictures to the text as well. I hope to put out a couple of pics a week.

The first picture I am presenting is from the the cover of "The Tale of Two Villages". I have taken a picture of the cover to compare, and in the same spot on the corner of Fulton and West Frederick St. 127 years later I retook the picture of (now) 14 West Frederick Street. The house was the Rinehart home with their blacksmith shop, which is no longer there.
Interesting to note that in 1893 the road through Walkersville was the main route between Washington D.C. and Philadelphia!
