Another trip around the sun today! đŸ’«
This past year was full of first for me and my little biz!

First time coleading a tour early last year, that happened to be all throughout California;

First time going to Pinnacles National Park and photographing California Condors;

First time going to Mongolia, let alone Asia;

First time sitting behind a blind and photographing Manul and corsac fox - for the first time;

First time camping on our beautiful Channel Islands National Park for an assignment;

First time solo camping;

And I spent the whole year photographing my first photo story (which will hopefully be published soon).

Firsts are scary! But they are also exciting, exhilarating, liberating, and oh so fun đŸ€©

Here are to more firsts - and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store! đŸ„ł

Thank you to all the new and old friends for making this past year amazing. Without you guys, I wouldn’t have had nearly as much fun 😉

Water in SoCal! 💩 For the first time in 25 years, California is completely drought free. Let’s hope it lasts.
Let that sink in.

I know I’ve been horrible at posting this year
and now that the year is coming to a close, I realized I never posted any photos from my trip to Mongolia with and this past July!
I’ve never been to this part of the world so I was more than excited to visit. But what excited me more was to experience and witness the beautiful world of the Manul and her kittens.
To ensure the least amount of disturbance to their natural behavior, we sat behind a temporary blind near their den (from a distance). This was new to me as most of the time I’m either photographing from a car or on foot. However, this allowed us to observe more than just a glimpse of their lives. We were able to watch the kittens become braver and eventually play. Even witnessed them nurse.
Patience was key, and we would sit for hours before any action would take place. This brought me back to my predator research days in Africa where I would turn to the birds while I spent my time waiting for either the lions, leopards, cheetah, or painted dogs to do something.
But patience always pays off.
This trip was incredible. I cannot recommend it enough. More photos to come.
Thanks to for coming along!

WORLD PAINTED DOG DAY
For those of you who know me, know how much I love these guys.

But do you know why I love these incredible predators? It all began when I studied their behavioral ecology and prey preference in South Africa - for my master’s thesis.

They opened up a whole other world for me. They showed me that their loyalty and family bonds are stronger than in most humans. They taught me how misunderstood they are. They showed me how much space they truly need to thrive. They showed me how little people knew about them
which all sparked my change in my career.

They changed my life.

Because of them, I witnessed the power of the visual arts - and how imagery can educate, spread awareness, and lead to action, which can then promote change.

The Africa painted dog is the second most endangered carnivore in Africa, largely due to habitat loss and canine disease (like distemper). And they need our help, because without them, the ecosystem will begin to collapse. Every predator has their prey preference for a reason - which creates a balance.

Please consider spreading awareness by sharing, educating, and supporting conservation organizations working on the ground protecting them.

WORLD LION DAY
I’ve been on a social media hiatus and I thought this day would be a good day to “come back”.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have studied the social behavior and behavioral ecology of these apex predators in Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, and Botswana. Both for my studies (bachelors and masters) and for small nonprofits.
These charismatic felines have taught me so much: patience, resilience, and strength.
With only an estimate of 20,000-25,000 lions remaining in Africa, their population continues to decline - mainly from habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, poaching, and trophy hunting.
We can stop this by educating and spreading awareness of wildlife crime. Be a voice for the voiceless. Can you imagine Africa without lions?

I couldn’t be more honored or proud for my image, Entourage, to be included in this year’s Remembering Wildlife book, “10 Years of Remembering Wildlife”.
This book series is so incredibly important, moving, and impactful for saving threatened and endangered species. This initiative that includes wildlife photographers around the world donating their work in the name of wildlife conservation is truly inspiring. To be among the world’s greatest wildlife photographers is mind boggling.
This is the second book, and African wild dog image, that made the cut in this series. I absolutely love this species, and I’m so proud to represent them through photography.
CONGRATULATIONS to all of the winners and finalists. And a HUGE thank you to Margot, judges, and the team for choosing my image.
Pledge for the new book in their Kickstarter by this Sunday 27th April at 9pm BST via my link in bio.
