This is what an adventure elopement in Washington could look like for you...
We start off with an early morning hike in hiking boots, and then you and your honey change into your dress/suit when we reach the top. You say your vows with nothing but trees and wind to hear your promises to each other.
Then, we return back to your Airbnb or another location to celebrate with family with the option for another stunning hike to end the day. 🤍

This Sunday, November 1st, I’ll be at Glenwood Christmas Tree Farm in Tacoma doing holiday mini sessions, and a few spots are still open but they will go quickly!

Each mini is 15 minutes among the evergreens. It’s a good fit for families, couples, or anyone who wants a cozy holiday photo for cards and gifts. You’ll get a gallery of hand-edited, true-to-color images, and there’s no photo limit.

The easiest thing to forget on an elopement morning isn’t the dress or the flowers.

It’s a folder. This folder includes your marriage license, printed permit, a pen, and your vows. Many things can be improvised on the trail. Those four things can’t.

That's why I put together the full Elopement Packing List for Washington couples from the three-day license wait period to what to wear when the weather turns. There’s a short checklist at the end that’s made for screenshotting.

It used to be that most days, I was working in my cozy home office (living room), surrounded by plants, editing and sipping on coffee...
Now that I'm a mom, the real life of running a photography business looks a lot different. I'm still doing consult calls, editing, responding to inquiries, location planning, etc.
Nowadays I just have a lot more interruptions from someone who can't even talk yet but still has a lot to say. If you see an email from me at midnight, mind your business. 😂
But honestly, I'm so blessed to be able to have my own business and be home with my daughter full time. It's a lot to juggle sometimes, but it's so worth it and I'm so grateful for all of you. 🫶

It’s official! Victory Dawn Photography was voted a 2026 Best of Pierce County winner in the Photographer category.

This one means so much because it came from the couples who trusted me and my team with their wedding day, the families who let me join them for an hour of real life, and everyone who shared my work and took the time to fill out a ballot. Thank you so so much!

My goal has always been organic, timeless photos that still feel true years from now. Getting to do that all over Seattle/Tacoma, Mt. Rainier, and the rest of Washington with an amazing team is still a little unreal.

When should you elope in Washington?

Depends which version of Washington you want.

I know our state has completely different personalities depending on the month:
☀️ July–Aug: Alpine lakes & wildflowers. My pro tip? Shooting a weekday sunrise to beat the crowds and get that perfect, soft light.
🍂 Sept–Oct: Golden larches & dramatic skies. Fall is unmatched, but it's always good to have a low-elevation backup spot so a sudden mountain storm won't ruin your day.
🌧️ Nov–Apr: Empty rainforests & moody coastlines. Honestly, PNW mist makes for some of the most iconic, cinematic images.

Quick reminder: Washington has a 3-day waiting period for licenses, and national parks require permits 1–3 months in advance.

Where would you elope? Mountains, rainforest, coast, or islands?

Washington has all four options, and most of it is within a day's drive of Seattle or Tacoma. From wildflower meadows at Mount Rainier to moss-covered forest and driftwood beaches at Olympic National Park, each one makes for a completely different day.

This day was about bringing everyone together to celebrate it. 🥂
People crossed oceans to be there. They shared a tea ceremony with family before the night opened up into a full reception surrounded by everyone they love.
Intimate and grand, traditional and modern, all in one day.
