Sometimes we need to hear it from someone else.
As photographers, we can be our own worst critics. We look at our work and notice every little thing we wish we had done differently. Sometimes a session doesn’t turn out exactly the way we envisioned it in our head. That doesn’t mean the images aren’t beautiful or that our clients aren’t happy. Sometimes it simply means our personal vision didn’t come together exactly how we imagined it.
And then you get messages like these from your clients. 🥹
This evening’s engagement session was one that I genuinely adored. I loved the way everything came together, and seeing my client’s reaction to just ONE sneak peek made my heart so happy.
Her excitement reminded me that sometimes we need to step outside of our own heads and see our work through our client’s eyes.
Because while I may be looking at an image thinking about what I could have done differently, my client may be looking at it thinking, “This is exactly what I dreamed of.”
Messages like these motivate me. They remind me that I’m doing something right. They remind me why I keep learning, growing, experimenting, and putting my heart into every session.
So to every client who sends their photographer a message saying they love their photos, gets excited over a sneak peek, leaves a review, or simply tells us how happy they are…
Please know that you’re encouraging an artist more than you realize.
Tonight, I walked away loving this session.
And knowing my client did too?
That’s the best feeling.
