Happy Halloween from the least scary wedding I shot last year. 🎃

Jaclyn + Anthony at in June. Live painter at the reception, Tim Williams Band on stage, and a couple who did not stop smiling from getting ready to last dance.

The only thing scary about a wedding day is how fast it goes. Hold onto it.

Shannon + Brian. 🤍 Four years of planning, one day on their own farm in Elkton, and it was every bit as vibrant as they promised. A first look at the corn crib. Shannon collecting flowers from guests on her way down the aisle. Golf carts rolling up with welcome drinks, and a cocktail hour shared with a fluffy cow, a pot belly pig, and a few goats who did not care at all that there was a wedding going on. This is just the sneak peek. The rest is coming. Congrats again, you two.

Christine + Stefan. 🤍 Bellevue Hall, a ceremony behind the mansion, and a day that lived up to the three words they gave me: fun, romantic, classy. Stefan wore the bow tie his dad wore at his own wedding, and his dad was the one who helped him tie it. Their siblings were called up from their seats to bring the rings forward. Little things like that are why I love this job. This is just the sneak peek, with more photos and the film still to come. Congrats again, you two.

Happy belated 1 year, Calli + Joe! 🤍

Calli's dad officiated. First look and a first prayer together at Battery Park. And then the reception intro: lights out, strobes on, Thunderstruck at full volume. I've shot a lot of grand entrances and that one still wins.

Kari led photo and Dom was on video for this one. Cheers to year two!

Engagement session this fall? A few things that make the difference. 🤍

1. Wear something you can move in. If you can't sit on the ground in it, rethink it.
2. Pick a place that means something. A park you walk every week beats a pretty spot you've never been.
3. Plan it for the last two hours before sunset. The light does the heavy lifting.
4. Bring the dog. Seriously.
5. Don't rehearse. I'll give you something to do with your hands, and the rest just happens.

The goal isn't posed. It's you two, on a good day, with someone paying attention.

Happy 1 year, Catie + Luke! 🤍

Backyard wedding on family property, which are quietly some of my favorites. No venue rules, no clock, just people who love you standing in a field you grew up in. JR and I shot this one together and I remember driving home thinking that was a really good day.

Wedding day for Danielle + Bradie! 🤍

Ceremony outside at facing the Chesapeake, and this crew has planned the fun stuff. No flower girls. Instead, two of Danielle's college buddies are walking down the aisle as the "b**r boys." There's a choreographed first dance, a dip on the way back up the aisle, a neon Crandalls sign, and a sparkler exit to close it out.

Classic and timeless with a sense of humor. My favorite combination. Congrats you two!

"We're really awkward in front of a camera."

I hear that at almost every consult, and it's never true by the end of the first ten minutes. 🤍

Here's the thing. Nobody is good at being photographed. What people are good at is being with the person they love. So I don't ask you to pose. I give you something to do, I talk the whole time, and I wait for the moment you forget I'm there.

That moment is the photo. Every time.
