I’ve been photographing this guy next to an antique school desk since he was 4 years old. Back then, he was so shy that I had to find a way to get him comfortable in front of the camera. The trick? Raving about his brand-new red sneakers and asking if I could take a picture of them. ❤️

Fast forward to 13, and this guy now towers over the little desk—and has plenty to share about the things he loves, including his football helmet. 🏈

I love getting to watch these kids grow—not just in height, but in confidence and personality, too. ❤️

Some kids just have something about them. And this guy? Well, let me tell you about the short speech he gave at his middle school graduation back in June.

It completely blew me away. This kid had a presence and confidence that you just don’t expect from someone that age. By the end, the entire audience was cheering and reacting to every word.

I actually leaned over to the person next to me and said, “This kid is going to be president someday.” 😂

And now he’s heading off to high school—and apparently he’s been bitten by the acting bug. 🎭 So naturally, he came to me for some headshots.

I have a feeling this is only the beginning of seeing this kid in front of a camera. He has the confidence, the charisma, and the ability to command a room—and I can’t wait to see where he takes it.

Something tells me we’re going to be seeing a LOT more of this guy. 📸🎭

Middle school boys might just be one of the hardest ages to photograph. 😅

They’re often not exactly thrilled about having their picture taken, and getting a natural smile can sometimes feel like a challenge.

But honestly? I love a good challenge.

The key is figuring out what makes them relax. Maybe it’s talking about something they love, making them laugh, giving them a chance to show off a little, or just getting past those first few awkward minutes.
