Today was the most rewarding day of my 15+ years of photography.

A few weeks ago, I kept declining a call from NY. They left a voicemail. I finally listened.

It was a woman from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. She said she found my website all the way from NY and asked if I could photograph 3 ribbon cuttings. My dad donates to this organization monthly, so I already knew how incredible they are. I called her back — and they hired me.

I thought this would be another photography job. I was wrong.

Three families. Three different stories. Three different disabilities. Three different homes. But one thing in common: they all proudly served our country and sacrificed so much for our freedom.

Tunnel to Towers builds fully customized homes for disabled veterans based on their specific needs without having a mortgage.

The moment that broke me was a veteran in a wheelchair going into her new home. Cabinets that push in and lower. An oven that lowers with the press of a button. A microwave within reach. Showers with benches. Handrails where she needs them and so much more.

She said, “I don’t have to run into doorways or walls anymore. I can actually move around. I don’t have to worry about falling. I feel like I can finally be independent.”

I cried with her.

This organization is changing lives in the most meaningful way, and I am so honored I got to witness it. Please take a moment to research this amazing organization.🇺🇸❤️

Let me tell you what… 4 bridal appointments in one day and probably 40-50 dresses is not for the weak 🤣 as the day went on the decisions got harder and harder but I got to say YES to the dress! 🤩 I’m obsessed and I can’t wait for October to finally marry my best friend 💕 Huge shout out to my mini me, bestie, soon to be sister in law, soon to be mother in law, and my lovely mother for being by my side during such a special day. I love you all! 🥹

As soon as I found out I was going to be a teacher i immediately started making things. The first thing I made was this stool. Of course I had to have my built in models model it for me.
