I STRUGGLED with this decision. Each had their advantages. Love the freedom of the van but for several reasons I went with the Trailer. I did a youtube poll, and 70% voted for the Van, but the comments where by far more for the Trailer, had brought up good points. Heres why I chose the trailer.
1. Either way I was going to be heavily using the generator, and while the 2800kw generator in the van is nice, I've got a 7.2 kw generator in my truck and its more quiet, more efficient. When I'm powering the trailer with everything on, I'm only using about 20% of the generator. The Ford ProPower is amazing.
2. I felt you get more for your money with the trailer. Vans are in such a high demand that prices are really jacked up on them.
3. Half of my rig (the truck), I'm paying 0% interest and will be paid off in 3 yrs, if I would have traded it in would be over 6% interest for the full rig and would be immediately upside down.
4. Just love the cabin of the truck vs the van, Bailey gets more window space. Even your higher end vans, you just don't get some of the comforts you do in the truck.
5. And being over half the time I'm going to be home editing, I still have the truck, the use of the bed to transport things, being able to go through drive-thrus (Dunkin, very important!).
6. More space for editing, the space in the van is would have been so cramped, the trailer has a plenty of room, with a nice dinette.
So yea it will involve some more work, hooking and unhooking, but all in all those are some of the reasons I went with the trailer. Will try to do a video about this decision.
