Welcome dinner with Pyramid views, Sphinx + Pyramid tour, authentic cooking class, historic walk through Old Cairo, sandboarding, overnight camping in the Black and White Desert, shopping in the famous Khan el-Khalili bazaar, visiting the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum, embarking on a 3 night/4 day sailing trip up the Nile River from Aswan to Luxor, guided tours of Philae Temple, Abu Simbel, a Nubian Village, High Dam, Kom Ombo Temple, Edfu Temple, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Colossal of Memnon and Karnak Temple, and a sunrise Hot Air Balloon ride over Luxor! 🌅

Last year I accepted the invitation to visit a conservation park in Zimbabwe and I had no idea that my life was going to change in seemingly imperceptible ways. I did not come back home an entirely different person, but there were deeply hidden parts of me that were awaken. Little embers that started to glow, to dream, to gain self-consciousness, to hunger for more. I did a lot of soul-searching which is such a cliche phrase for a traveler returning home, but after sitting still for a 25 hour travel day with memories, possibilities, beginnings of dreams, deaths of former ideals, and new soul connections haunting me … it’s safe to say that this cliche has earned the right to be overused.

After bringing back 8 new friends on my group trip and exploring a new part of Zimbabwe this month, I’m reminded again of the magic and quiet push for reflection that I find in this beautiful country.

Here’s to feeling alive, to soul searching, and to Zimbabwe. I’ll be back for you 🩵
