Since joining the Downtown Committee in 2004, Merike has been a driving force behind efforts to make downtown Syracuse a more vibrant, welcoming, and exciting place to live, work, and visit.
From supporting local businesses and attracting new investment to organizing events that bring thousands of people downtown, Merike and her team play an important role in the continued growth and revitalization of our city’s center.
As someone who spends a lot of time capturing Syracuse from above, I’ve had a front-row seat to the changes happening downtown. And I have a real appreciation for the people working behind the scenes to make those changes possible. Merike is certainly one of them.
What I appreciate about Merike’s work is that building a stronger downtown isn’t just about buildings and businesses. It’s about creating a place where people want to spend time, connect, and feel proud of their city.
