Trying to take things slow in life these days-feeling calm, serene, taking on only things that bring me joy. I've been hit with some medical issues and have been forced to slow down. It truly makes you realize how fragile life is and how much beauty there is in life. Taking in every moment because life is truly too short.

I had lost my passion, I was exhausted, burnt out, my hands constantly go numb and I have pain often (making it hard to shoot and also very hard to edit somedays). I just couldn't do it anymore. So I stepped back, finally got a diagnosis after years of being sick, and am starting to feel a little better. A little more like myself, although I don't think I will ever be the person I was before chronic illness.

I am thankful for my easy going long standing clients (and the new ones too!) who have stuck with me through these hards times in my life and have put up with me despite me not always being the best at the business side of things. 🤣 I truly appreciate you more than I can express.

From here on out, I plan to create things I feel passion for, let go of the "perfect" session, and just enjoy. ❤

These photos are very special to me, not just because this is my rainbow baby (can we believe she’s already 5?!!!), but because I was able to photograph her in the snowsuit that my mom wore at her age.

My dad brought it to me and planted the idea that I should take photos of her in it. The day I decided to do it, It was freezing cold, and she wasn’t initially very willing. But I told her how special this snowsuit was, that it was her Nana’s, and that it would mean so much to me. I told her we were going to take photos of her in the snowsuit and give the photos to her Papa as a gift for his birthday. She sure loves her Papa, so that was enough to get her to agree. She had fun for about 5 minutes and then my time was over, but we got plenty of photos and we were able to put together a little photo book for Papa. And he absolutely loved it.

We talk about Nana and how she is in heaven, watching over us, all the time. We celebrate her birthday, we share photos of her, we talk about how much love we know she has for them. It’s hard on me but necessary to keep her memory alive for my kids, even the ones that have never met her. Now I have her childhood snowsuit to pass down to my kids and photos of my own daughter wearing it, in front of our farmhouse. It really can’t get more magical than that. ❤
