Last night the Florence Carlton School band played “Counting Stars” during the first playoff football game of the season. This might not seem like a big deal to you, but this is the first year Florence has had a marching band that plays during half time, so they aren’t just learning new songs. They’re learning new skills.
I’m astounded by how much work they’ve put in, how good they’ve gotten so quickly, and how they perform in every weather condition without complaint (including last night’s pouring rain. They’re like the Little Engine that Could, chugging up that mountain with hard work and belief.
Mine is the tall trumpet player.
If you want to support their efforts, we’re selling yard signs for $25. Hit me up and I’ll get you one!
Oh, and Florence beat Columbus 45-7!
