Good Sunday morning from Foothills Aerial Services! ☀️

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to capture aerial images and footage while visiting the Town of Hudson in Caldwell County. Hudson truly has the warm, welcoming small-town character that makes communities like this so special.

Our flight included views of Highway 321, Caldwell Community College, the Hudson Fire Department, Downtown Hudson, and the new Caldwell County Emergency Services Headquarters. The headquarters is located in the former La-Z-Boy Furniture executive office building, giving this familiar Hudson property an important new purpose serving Caldwell County.

This outing also marked the first flight for the newest addition to our fleet—the DJI Mavic 4 Pro! With its advanced triple-camera system, this incredible aircraft is designed to capture stunning, cinematic aerial photography and video from an entirely new perspective.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from this morning’s impromptu sunrise shoot over Lake Hickory. 🌅🚁

Sometimes the best shoots are the ones you don’t plan. The clouds, morning light, and reflections on the water came together for some incredible views from above.

There’s just something special about watching a new day begin over the foothills of North Carolina.

⛈️ STORM MOVES INTO NORTH STATESVILLE ⛈️

This afternoon, while conditions were still safe to fly, Foothills Aerial Services got in the air to capture footage of a powerful storm as it moved into North Statesville.

According to WCNC Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich, the storm produced a microburst that pummeled the area with estimated 50–60 mph winds, leaving significant damage in its wake.

Numerous reports of downed trees and power lines have come in across the area. Among the more significant incidents, a tree fell onto a tractor-trailer along I-77, and another tree crashed through the roof of the radio station on Radio Road.

Here’s a slideshow featuring some of the images we captured from the air, along with timelapse footage showing the storm as it approached.

⚠️ Please use caution if you’re traveling through affected areas, give utility and emergency crews plenty of room to work, and never approach downed power lines.
