Since February my Durst Lambda, aka the digital C-printer, had been down then up then down. I have been trying to decide whether to keep fixing it or if it’s an obsolete process.
It uses Red, Green and Blue laser to expose digital files to light sensitive paper. The paper is then processed through a chemical process using developer and bleach fixer just like in my analogy darkroom. It is a photographic process and it’s absolutely beautiful! Back in the early 2000’s the studio embraced digital printing because of the analog quality of the Durst Lambda. It until 2018 to embrace inkjet, which of course makes beautiful prints as well.
Long story short, I chose to fix it and I got all emotional when my first print came out of my lovely lambda once again!
We are working on several fall exhibitions and yes, they are printed using the lambda and in the color darkroom. So for as long as there is still paper and chemistry being manufactured will be printing c-prints! Proud of my studio that can and does! 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🩶🤍🤎
