Hello everyone, it’s Ava! Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the maternity department in Careggi Hospital where we have made several photo donations. Being able to see the foundation’s art in person, seeing how much the photos brightened the hallways, was an experience I’ve been looking forward to all semester. The hallways where the foundation’s photos were placed felt lively, positive, and reassuring. Seeing and feeling the difference between hallways with and without our photos showed how important the work we do is.

We are excited to share our recent photo donation to the Aix-en-Province Pertuis Hospital Center in France!

We are grateful to have provided photos that bring positivity and brightness to the halls and rooms of the hospital. Here are some words that the staff members have shared with us about how our photo donation has made a positive impact: “The collaboration has been smooth and enjoyable, and has fostered connections within the hospital teams and with patients. The pictures have brought touches of color and a sense of escape to the walls of our corridors and waiting rooms.”

We deeply appreciate the staff members of Aix-en-Province Pertuis Hospital Center for sharing these photos of the installations with us. We enjoy seeing our photo art in the hospitals we provide donations to. Thank you.

Recently, we had the opportunity to attend and exhibit some of our photos at the symposium hosted by the nonprofit organization Art in Medicine (AiM) in Florence, Italy. At the symposium it was discussed how art can impact not only patients but also physicians. Observing art allows for physicians to develop enhanced observational skills, improve physician socialization, and reduce burnout. Observing art also increases wellbeing. It was mentioned that training the eyes trains the soul as art leads to revelations and healing within oneself, and it helps us stay present within life and especially during uncertainty. By allowing us to share some of our photo art, we gave an example of how impactful it is to have art in our spaces, especially hospitals. Our photo art livened up the space, creating a more positive environment that brought joy and sparked conversation.

Nadine Evans, Cabo, Mexico (P664)

Welcome to our new Contributing Photographer, Nadine Evans!

Nadine comments, “Working with The Foundation for Photo/Art in Hospitals has already been such a meaningful experience for me. Photography has always been a quiet way for me to slow down and notice beauty in moments that might otherwise go unseen. Light through flowers, still water, movement in nature, and the small details that make people pause for a moment and simply breathe.

Knowing that one of my photographs could bring even a small sense of calm, comfort, or peace to someone in a hospital setting means more to me than I can fully express. During difficult moments, environment matters, and I love the idea that art can soften a space and make it feel a little more human and comforting.

I’m truly grateful to be included among the contributing photographers and thankful for the incredible work this foundation does to bring healing imagery into hospitals around the world.”

Enjoy this beautiful underwater photo taken by Julie Gordon, our new Contributing Photographer!

Julie comments, “During a hospital stay of my own, I found myself soothed by a single photograph on the wall. It reminded me how powerful imagery can be when someone is navigating uncertainty. As an underwater photographer, I’ve always felt that the ocean holds a kind of quiet medicine for the body and soul and I enjoy sharing this world with others.

Connecting with Elaine and being invited to contribute was an unexpected gift. I’m honored to have my work included in a mission that brings calm and source of comfort to people and places that truly matter.”

Healing Photo Art’s mission is grounded in providing comfort and hope to patients, caregivers, and visitors in hospitals. Believing that beautiful nature photos can help heal the soul, which in turn helps heal the body. Our contributing photographers play a key role in helping us provide these beautiful photos by donating their pictures to us.

One of our contributing photographers, Brian McClean, has not only shared this beautiful photo with us, but he also shares beautifully written posts about the relationship between nature and healing. Today we’d like to share a few quotes from his LinkedIn posts (@ Brian (MBA) McClean) as they resonate deeply with our mission and what we strive to achieve with our donations.

“A horizon reminds us the world is wider than today’s crisis. The ocean moves steadily regardless of human turmoil. The steadiness matters.”

“Art does not ignore reality. It strengthens our capacity to face it.”

“It invites reflection. It cultivates patience. It strengthens our ability to hold complexity without collapsing into despair.”

Thank you again for sharing your photo with our foundation, and thank you for sharing such lovely posts on your LinkedIn, Brian McClean (@ Brian (MBA) McClean)
