Gracie here! Shhh, no one tell Maria I’m posting. While I’m typically not the one who does the posting here, I thought now would be a great time to make an appreciation post for Maria. She’s captured more memories and precious moments than any of us can imagine, and I’d love for her to know just how appreciated and loved she is by all of her people. Feel free to share a fun memory, favorite photo, or a kind word. She is one of a kind and deserves all the love!

Holy cannoli y'all. We are knee deep in October and fall over here. If you don't hear from us do not fret. We are working all day, every day, sun up til sun down and trying to get everything out and delivered and shot and scheduled and set up.

You are always welcome to text the work phone if we've missed a message online or an email. The number is listed on the page here.

Thank you thank you thank you -- (even though I threaten to quit every fall -> Christmas) -- for supporting both Gracie and me and allowing us to do what we love. I read something on Insta this week that said people have a choice where they spend their money and thinking about someone saying "gosh I want to spend my money with THEM" -- it's humbling, truly. Especially when times are so hard. A reminder that we do offer payment plans. We want to try to be as helpful as possible when you are investing in the memories of your family.

I hope you guys are all having a great fall -- tomorrow is supposed to be sweater weather and WE are going out to photograph a wedding for Caroline and Sam, and we are so excited about the cooler weather!

Senior year has a way of making an ordinary family photo feel a little more precious.

You’re celebrating everything ahead, but you’re also becoming aware of the things you’ve grown so used to—their car in the driveway, their voice down the hall, everyone coming and going from the same place. Things that have been part of everyday life for years, and that will look a little different soon.

The Tharps have already sent one child through college. They know the pride of watching a child find their way, and the adjustment of loving them from a little farther away. Now, their baby is in senior year and will leave for college next fall. Knowing what’s coming doesn’t necessarily make that last round of firsts and lasts any easier.

That’s why I love including family photos during senior year. This milestone belongs to the whole family: to the parents who helped them get here, the siblings who grew up beside them, and the life they’ve shared along the way.

There will be holidays, visits home, and plenty of reasons to gather again. But there is something worth holding onto about this chapter, while you’re still in it.

To the Tharp family, thank you for letting me capture your family in such a tender, exciting season. There is so much ahead to celebrate and so much right here to treasure.

I typically preview more than one image for a gallery but this image made me SO very happy that I wanted it to stand alone. Meet Cooper and his human, Emily, who came out for fall minis this afternoon. It was the perfect weather for some photos of mom with her guy -- and what a good boy he was. I'm telling you, I love dogs so very much!

How about the beginning of fall minis y'all? The Parkers showed up and we had the best time playing with MC and talking about the "putty" (puppy) that was there before her. Watching her become so independent -- walking, talking, having opinions -- is so precious and every time I see her she has grown just a little bit more. It's one of the reasons I love fall -- I get to see families together and see how much they have changed and grown since our last time together!

Five years ago, Cassidy and Jay stepped in front of my camera as a couple. I couldn’t have known then how much of their story I would get to tell. 🤍

Since then, there have been two precious babies, newborn snuggles, milestones, and family photos. Those babies are now four and two, and yesterday, I got to photograph their mom and dad saying “I do.”

There’s something so special about photographing a wedding when you already know and love the family standing in front of you. You bring all those memories with you—the tiny faces, the growing personalities, the years of watching them build a life together. It made seeing Cassidy and Jay become husband and wife especially sweet.

The rain stayed with us for much of the day, but a little window of beautiful weather gave us the chance to create a photograph they had dreamed of—with the truck Jay restored for them. After all the work he poured into it, getting to include it in this chapter of their story meant so much.

Cassidy and Jay, thank you for letting me be part of your lives these past five years, and for trusting me with another day you’ll want to remember forever. What a joy to have watched your family grow and to be there as you made these promises to each other.

So much history already. So much life still ahead. Congratulations, you two.

A first birthday, a family farm, and some pretty big equipment for this little guy who is turning one!

His mom wanted to celebrate Walker in the places that are part of their everyday life—on his dad’s construction equipment and out on their farm. I love that she chose to weave a little of their family’s story into his first birthday photos. Someday, those big machines and the land around him may feel familiar in ways he can’t yet understand, but these pictures will show him where it all began.

And when the sun started to set, we finished with a cake smash right there in the pasture. Cake, open fields, baby smiles, fists full of cake and icing and that beautiful evening light was such a sweet way to celebrate a whole year of being loved.

It was a joy to meet this family and help them hold onto this little piece of his childhood. Happy first birthday, sweet Walker!

Twenty-two years ago, he was a six-year-old little boy playing football alongside my Josh with the Joelton Vikings. I couldn’t have known then how much life we would get to share.

For twelve years I watched them grow up: Saturdays at football, Sundays at church, weeknights playing baseball. So many ordinary days, sports trips that became the memories I treasure now. And along the way, that sweet girl became a really big part of the story, too.

I watched them fall in love while they were still young. Then I watched them keep choosing each other as they grew up. An engagement. A wedding. Their first baby. And now, their second.

There is something especially tender about photographing a family when you remember the parents as a little boy and a little girl. I look at them with their own children now, and I can still see the boy who stepped onto that football field with mine and the girl who has always seemed to love him. All those years feel far away and right here at the same time.

And I look at the two of them together with so much affection. I’ve watched them work through the good and the hard, build a life, and grow stronger together. There is a lot of love behind this photograph. A lot of choosing, showing up, and finding their way.

As a photographer, I get to preserve a moment in their story. As someone who has loved them for years, I get to remember everything that brought them here.

Twenty-two years ago, our story started with two little boys and a football team. Now, I’m photographing the family one of those boys has built with the girl he fell in love with.

What a beautiful thing to have been here to watch. And when I'm no longer here, when they are no longer here -- these photos will remain for those little boys to love.

And happy? Happy looks SO good on them.
