2 weeks ago, we talked about failure. Today, I don't even know that word.
I did do a lot of research and made a new hypothesis and tested it out. These are a handful of the results.
I give you my Hosta Hotties! Not a failure in sight 😁
Time to start framing!

Yes, that's right. This camera is around 60 years old and is fully analog. Not one computerized component. And nothing to help you with your exposure. It's raw and real and heavy. You *feel* every photograph you make. I can't begin to tell you how much I love it!
Some of you will recall that I took it to DC with me this last trip to see what he could do.
Well, I finally got my scans back, and I'm thrilled! I DO still know what I'm doing without the aid a mirrorless digital camera provides.
I only shot one roll because the shutter started sticking, and I got really frustrated. That has since been fixed, and I cannot WAIT to go through several more rolls of film!!!
I think I'll pick a different film though. I'm not in love with the Kodak Gold....

Have you ever seen that old movie Yes Man with Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel? The premise is Carrey's character is hypnotized into saying yes to every opportunity presented, and hilarity ensues.
Yesterday, that was me. Got the call and just said yes to a new experience.
I had the opportunity of a lifetime to go up in a small engine Cessna and photograph another pilot in flight. The goal was lofty for a newbie like me - capture portraits through the glass.
The atmosphere was choppy, the plane was bouncing, balance was out the window. Framing and composing? A pipe dream, I worried.
Turns out I've got this.
I am ever grateful to Stratton DV Imaging, Peter Stratton, Marinda Cassidy for taking me under their wing (HA! see what I did there?). They are always so patient and intentional about teaching me when I am with them. I love learning from them and growing as they help me gain new experiences!
Grab life by the horns guys! Say yes! Step out of your comfort zone and do the scary thing. You'll surprise yourself more often than not 😊

Event photography isn't always glamorous - or even clean. But it's always fun.
Welcome to Cow Day!
Cow day is the time of year when the Woodard family ensures all their cattle are vaccinated, checked of pregnancy, and are in tip top health. Every head of cattle is painstakingly and lovingly gathered - no easy feat at over 300 heads!
It's messy, it's long, and at times it can be dangerous, but it's necessary to ensure the quality of cattle being sold and slaughtered. And this family cares!
Despite the seriousness, the day was filled with love and laughter and togetherness. I can only hope I've captured exactly that.
Here's a handful of my favorites from the day.
Have an event you need covered? Even an outside the box one? I'm a phone call away 😊

Hello and welcome to Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day! This is the wonderful day each year where people around the world share the images we’ve been making using lensless cameras, most of which we build ourselves.
Here are a few of my favorites that I have made!

If you’d like to learn more or want to try building your own, NPR published a great article yesterday: https://www.npr.org/2026/04/25/nx-s1-5795851/worldwide-pinhole-photography-day

Or even better, check out https://pinholeday.org/gallery/2025/index.php?formType=list&f_action=refresh&countryName=&provinceName=&cityName=&Country= to see last year’s submissions from around the world!

You’re not failing. You’re just still trying.
Let’s talk about failure. I don’t particularly like the word and don’t believe in the concept most days.
POV: you’re an experimental photographer and every single experiment this week has gone to pot.
Chlorophyll prints? Nope. Not a single one.
Solargraph? Two weeks and not a single sun line to show for it.
Pinhole photos? Turns out the developer went bad and the store in Nashville was out of my preferred and sold me one that doesn’t work for paper prints.
Ugh. Some days man.
But I’m a very scientific gal and I approach my photographic experiments with the scientific method at the front of my mind.
It would be so easy to throw in the towel after a week like this. But we won’t use the word failure. Because I won’t throw in the towel. That would be failure. And these aren’t failures. They’re setbacks sure. They’re a moment of reflection on my methods and what I’ve learned. They’re an opportunity to evaluate my hypothesis given this new “failed” information and make a new one. That means trying again.
So I observed my results, asked a lot of questions (many f bombs thrown in for good measure - for science!), and will use these results to form a new hypothesis and create another experiment.
In other words, I’ll try again.
Because folks, as long as you’re still trying, you can’t be failing.
So whatever you’re struggling with, pause. Take a breath. And form a new hypothesis with the information you have.
You’re not failing. You’re just still trying.

The best thing about photography is all the people it brings into your life. Whether it's someone interested in my gear, the composition I'm framing up, or the people I'm working with directly. People, and their stories, are fascinating.
These were two such people.
I was welcomed into this family with literal open arms and enjoyed an evening of family celebration, laughter, love, and togetherness.
Congrats to this beautiful "punk rock" couple who dived right into the funky and weird vibe and let me make fisheye portraits in their wedding gown and suit.
This is your reminder to be brave and step out of your box sometimes. Even if it seems weird. The result will be something wholly you.

I know the commitment can be hard. I know the price can be daunting.
But photographers aren't in the business of taking pictures. Anyone can do that with the cameras we all carry around each day. Photographers are in the business of safeguarding your memories.
Photographs capture a moment in time, who we are in that moment, what we want the world to know about us, and the love and laughter that exists in our lives. They are important investments, not just in our own memories, but for those who come after.
When was the last time you thought about your memories and what you're leaving behind? Your moments are too important to let them slip away.

Greetings from Washington DC! I’m a little in and out while I travel until Wednesday.
The views are incredible and I’ve met so many wonderful people.
This is your sign to get out of your screens and connect. With the world around you, with the people around you, with whatever passions are inside you.
It’s the most beautiful time of the year, after all.

Went for a loooong walk yesterday and found an old, crumbling structure! Because of course I did 😆 Okay, found is the wrong word. I knew it was there and intentionally set out to find it in the ice and snow. It was the wayward way I had to go about it
.
I don’t know anything about this spot. It’s about a mile and half walk from my home and located on Lights Chapel. If you know the owners, maybe beg a little forgiveness for my trespass on my behalf? I think the ends justified the B&E and I’d love more information on it đŸ˜ŹđŸ«ŁđŸ˜ƒ
Some are taken with standard lenses, some are the 14mm for fun. The last three are a pinhole lens I fashioned out of an old lens cap!
Just wanted to see the different perspectives they all gave đŸ€©
