Crystal Freemon Photography Love Captured Boldly. Nashville area family portrait photographer in Spring Hill, TN. My style is very candid and natural.

I love capturing children and families in a way that shows their true personalities. I want my photographs to capture emotion...joy, love, even sadness. I am not drawn to perfectly posed shots of families smiling at the camera (though I try to capture a few of these at each session). What speaks to me personally is photographs of families interacting with each other and being real. I FEEL somethin

g when I've captured a mother lovingly admiring her newborn, or a joyful toddler giggling at me. For me, photographs are about feelings and taking you back to that moment. So I have developed my style around the idea of capturing these moments and feelings. I believe that one of the most important things we can do to live a joyful and happy life is to be mindful of the beauty right in front of us....the little moments that add up to a lifetime. I want to create inspiring photographs that capture that beauty. I prefer children (and parents) to have fun and be carefree at our photo shoots....often thinking of them more like playdates than photo sessions. I encourage parents not to stress out or get frustrated with what seems like uncooperative little ones. Relax and leave the children to me and often the "uncooperative" / carefree toddler evokes the most emotional, real and joyful photographs. I do not rush sessions, nor do I care for "Mini" sessions. I want to get to know your family and capture their real personalities. We will take lots of breaks, and play a lot between "poses". Most of the time, my favorite pictures are during the playing and not the posing. I encourage you to forget that I am there, and be mindful of the joy that comes from being with your family. I hope to capture that joy when you aren’t looking.

How we doing out there senior parents, as graduation is fast approaching?

Personalyy, I think I'm in denial.

But I was pleased to meet another lovely class of 2026 Spartan at South 40 last night. It was a gorgeous evening for senior pics.

I got to shoot my very first college senior session this week, with this lovely, almost MTSU grad!

I'm n ot sure how I've gotten this far without shooting any college seniors, but I expect it has to do with the ages of my babies, and therefore my circle. So many high school seniors right now. I expect in a few years, there will be lots of college seniors.

I had the privilege of capturing a Gold Hope session at Harlinsdale Farms in Franklin, and this family of six brought ALL the love. Ten-year-old twins who are each other's best friends, a three-year-old with more personality than most adults I know, and a six-month-old baby brother who just soaked it all in.

The evening light at Harlinsdale was perfect — warm and golden and exactly what this session deserved.

A few weeks ago, I got back from an amazing week with some of my favorite people, and I can't stop thinking about all the moments I captured. We had to leave a day early because of the snow storm, but it turned out to be a blessing—we got an extra day to explore Little Havana in Miami, and I'm so glad we did.

On past trips, I never brought my big camera, but this year I finally had my Fujifilm X100T to test out.

My friend Christy told me she loved seeing my photos because even though we were there together, I noticed things she completely missed. A weathered turquoise door. Two older ladies studing a map. The way light hit colorful buildings in Old San Juan.

That's what I love most about photography—it pushes me to actually see things I might otherwise walk right past. Even on vacation, I'm still drawn to photographing people. Which makes sense—I've always been a photographer of people first.

I shared some of my favorites below and even more in the blog post (link in comments.)

❓I would love to know which photos are your favorite. Do you like the traditional landscape shots, the buildings, or the ones with people?

This isn't photography-related, but I wanted to take a moment to tell you about another local Spring Hill businesswoman—Hannah Clare Bakery. My friend Christy's daughter is only 14, but she's a gifted baker, and our family is obsessed with ordering from her whenever we can. We all get genuinely excited when it's "Hannah Clare Day" at our house.

I'm so proud of how talented she is at her craft, but I'm equally impressed by the business she's built at such a young age. She's incredibly dependable and professional—exactly what you want in a local business owner.

So please go give her a like and follow on Facebook and Instagram. And if you want a delicious treat, order from her. You won't regret it

Winter sessions + overcast skies = some of my favorite images. ☁️
We explored downtown Columbia for this senior session, and I'm so glad we didn't let the weather stop us. Yes, it was a little chilly. Yes, the skies were gray. But look at these colors and that moody, cinematic vibe!

I rescheduled this session once because it was going to be too cold (I care about my clients being comfortable!), but mid-40s with the right layers? Totally manageable. And honestly, I'll take a crisp December afternoon over a hot, sweaty summer session any day.

If you've been putting off booking because you're worried about winter weather or overcast days, don't be. Some of my absolute favorite sessions happen when the weather isn't "perfect."

Downtown Columbia's architecture, textures, and colors shine even without sunshine, and that even overcast light creates rich, saturated tones I absolutely love.
