Love Captured Boldly. Nashville area family portrait photographer in Spring Hill, TN. My style is very candid and natural.

I love capturing children and families in a way that shows their true personalities. I want my photographs to capture emotion...joy, love, even sadness. I am not drawn to perfectly posed shots of families smiling at the camera (though I try to capture a few of these at each session). What speaks to me personally is photographs of families interacting with each other and being real. I FEEL something when I've captured a mother lovingly admiring her newborn, or a joyful toddler giggling at me. For me, photographs are about feelings and taking you back to that moment. So I have developed my style around the idea of capturing these moments and feelings. I believe that one of the most important things we can do to live a joyful and happy life is to be mindful of the beauty right in front of us....the little moments that add up to a lifetime. I want to create inspiring photographs that capture that beauty. I prefer children (and parents) to have fun and be carefree at our photo shoots....often thinking of them more like playdates than photo sessions. I encourage parents not to stress out or get frustrated with what seems like uncooperative little ones. Relax and leave the children to me and often the "uncooperative" / carefree toddler evokes the most emotional, real and joyful photographs. I do not rush sessions, nor do I care for "Mini" sessions. I want to get to know your family and capture their real personalities. We will take lots of breaks, and play a lot between "poses". Most of the time, my favorite pictures are during the playing and not the posing. I encourage you to forget that I am there, and be mindful of the joy that comes from being with your family. I hope to capture that joy when you aren’t looking.

This downtown Columbia session had a great surprise at the end. I mentioned early on that I sometimes like to finish at Columbia Motor Alley for some vintage-feeling shots. Turns out his grandpa used to own a Texaco station, and his family pulled out an old black and white photo of his grandfather standing in front of it. The shots we got look so similar to that old photo, and I love them!

Finally, a session where it wasn't 100 degrees outside. And I got to spend it with one of my favorite repeat clients at the Factory at Franklin.

I'm usually there with seniors, so this was a fun change. It's a spot they hang out at a lot, which made it even better.

I've been photographing this senior for years, so it was really fun to take her senior photos too. She's just the coolest human, and I love the way these turned out.

We shot this one before the heat dome finally broke, and it was SO hot. Thankfully, The Factory has a few indoor spots I love, so we could pop inside between outdoor locations to cool off. Those colored factory windows, brick walls, and string lights ended up giving us some of my favorite images of the day.

My fall calendar is full, but The Factory is a great option for winter senior sessions. With all that brick, glass, and character, we don't need fall color or green trees for a great backdrop. Send me a message to check availability!

We rescheduled this senior session a few times because of weather, and it was worth every reschedule. She wanted flowers in her photos, which is tricky because Mother Nature does not check my calendar. We waited for the right week, and South 40 Farm came through with plenty of them.

I love South 40 even when the flowers aren't blooming. Tall weeds with just the right sunlight are my favorite, and this place delivers that every time. It also has variety, which I think is important for senior sessions.

If you're thinking about South 40 for your senior session, I usually recommend booking two hours. I'll explain why in the blog. Link in the comments!

This family pointed out during this session that I've been photographing their family for ten years.😶🩷

Ten years of watching these three sisters grow up in front of my camera. Ten years of them trusting me to show up and capture whatever season they're in. That's not something I take lightly, and honestly, it's one of my favorite parts of this job — the clients who come back year after year and let me be a small part of their story.

I've been photographing this senior since she was two years old, and this session is special to me. Her mom is one of my best friends, one of the people who's been my village through raising my own kids, and getting to watch her daughter grow up through my camera has been one of the unexpected gifts of this job.

We shot at her grandparents' house, and I could not have asked for a more perfect setting. The weather even cooperated, which, after one rain-related reschedule this summer, felt like a small miracle.

This is definitely one of my favorite sessions ever. I'll be honest, I'm terrible at culling, and it's worse when it's for a family close to me. I shoot too many, I keep too many, and this gallery is going to be ridiculous. Sorry, not sorry.

Personalyy, I think I'm in denial.

But I was pleased to meet another lovely class of 2026 Spartan at South 40 last night. It was a gorgeous evening for senior pics.
