Having issues with uploading photos to FB, that is why I have not posted any from Saturday's "top shelf" chase in northeast and central KS-despite no tornadoes the scenes were fantastic.

Tricky chase day but successful. Caught the tail end of a tornado in NW Missouri near Jameson, the HP supercell it came out of was very impressive. Then tried to get west into KS, missed the more epic storms farthest west but captured nice structure west of Topeka on the lead storm. A fun day.

Decided not to chase Tuesday, instead we drove SE to set up for tomorrow. Looks like we missed a few good storms but tornadoes were basically absent.. On the way in southern Manitoba and extreme northern North Dakota we witnessed a fabulous display of a type of altocumulus clouds known as asperitas. They are very interesting and not terribly common.

It's very likely we will head out one last time late this week for the last hurrah in the Plains. In the meantime, here are some more past pics I have been re-processing.

I have lived in Atlanta since 1982, and cannot recall a weather pattern quite like this, where it rains at least twice a day for a week or longer. We are in a drought, and also it's nice to not have hot temps so it's generally a good thing, but not enjoying the 72-75 degree dew points. Other parts of the Metro have probably seen over 10" of rain the past week, here about 5" so far. This general pattern (likely related to the developing El NiƱo) should continue for at least another week. This same pattern is is what is tamping down the severe weather threat in the Plains. .
