These two backpacked five miles into the backcountry, said their vows at an alpine lake with no one else around, and spent their wedding night under the stars in the most beautiful place I’ve ever camped. No hotel. No venue. No checkout time. Just mountains, each other, and a tent that honestly earned its keep that night.
This is the elopement I think about when people ask me why I do this. Because nobody is going to forget this. Not in ten years, not in fifty. You don’t forget the night you camped in the Sierras after marrying your person.
