My brother-in-law was home from the Marines for about two weeks, so of course, we had to find a day that worked around everyone’s schedules to squeeze in some family pictures!

As the photographer, I loved getting to capture these moments for my own family and in laws. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day for some updated summer-to-fall family photos. There’s something extra special about photographing the people you love and getting to freeze these moments in time.

Senior Sunday 🤍

No two senior photography sessions are ever the same—and that’s what makes them so much fun! I love creating unique senior portraits that reflect each senior’s personality, style, and interests.

Every session is personalized to make sure your senior photos feel like you. 📸

I’ve spent the past few days going back and forth about whether or not I should continue sharing sessions that include children’s faces. Ultimately, this post sums up everything I’ve been feeling.

I want to be very clear: I will NEVER post photos showing a child’s face without their parent’s permission. It has always been that way, and it will continue to be that way.

Those smiles, those giggles, those hugs — those are the moments I want to capture and preserve forever. They are the little pieces of childhood that I feel so incredibly blessed to freeze in time through my photos.

And if you would rather keep those moments private, that is completely okay. I will always respect and honor your wishes.

But the truth is, I love sharing these special moments. I love showing off the beautiful memories I’ve been trusted to capture, and I love celebrating the families and little personalities behind each session.

Just as I shared back in April, I will continue to honor whatever you choose on my questionnaire. Whether you give me permission to share everything, only share moments where faces aren’t shown, or not share anything at all — there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those choices.

Your child’s privacy and your comfort will always come first. ❤️

I’m simply grateful that you trust me enough to capture these moments in the first place. And whether those memories stay just between us or get shared with the world, I’ll continue to treat every single one of them with the love and care they deserve.

Okay y’all, I’ve been seeing a LOT of photographers copy and pasting their statements about no longer posting their clients’ children because of the recent ruling surrounding AI generated CSAM.

And listen… I understand the fear. I understand wanting to protect children. I’m a parent too, and protecting kids should ALWAYS be the priority.
But I’m going to give y’all a little different perspective from this “small town photographer” over here.

I’m currently not planning to stop posting my clients’ families… as long as I have their parents’ permission.

That doesn’t mean I don’t care about my clients as many of these post from photographers are implying. It doesn’t mean I don’t care about their privacy. And it definitely doesn’t mean I’m unaware of the dangers that exist online.

I just don’t think photographers who have permission from a child’s parent should suddenly be treated like we’re part of the problem.

Honestly, I’ve never posted a family who wasn’t already comfortable putting their family online. And I’ve adjusted plenty of contracts to not include a model release for those families who don’t post their families. I’m not sneaking pictures of anybody’s babies onto Facebook. Their parents know. They see the images. They give me permission.

And here’s something else I’ve been thinking about…
A LOT of the photographers saying they won’t post children anymore are still using AI in their businesses.
AI is built into so many of the programs we use now. Photoshop has AI. Editing programs have AI. There are AI tools being used for calls, marketing, editing, culling, and all kinds of things.

I haven’t even updated my Photoshop since 2023. And honestly?! I’ve intentionally left it that way because I don’t WANT to see how much easier AI can make it to manipulate the images I create. I also don’t like adding my clients photos into ai programs bc many moms like me don’t use programs like chat gpt with their kids faces.

Meanwhile, our kids are living in a world full of cameras.
They go to Walmart.
They go to restaurants.
They go to sporting events.
They go to school.
They walk through parking lots.
There are cameras everywhere.

We hand huge companies access to our photos (think google “allow access to all photos”)
Many post our kids on social media. People are uploading pictures of their families into AI programs.
So I guess what I’m saying is…
I don’t think the answer is to shame or villainize photographers who make a different decision with informed parental consent.

Maybe our bigger call to action should be aimed at the people who actually make the laws.
Our lawmakers have the ability to create laws that protect children from exploitation and emerging technologies. We should be holding them accountable when those laws fail to keep up.

❌Protect children.
❌Demand better laws.
❌Hold lawmakers accountable.
❌Be informed about the technology we are willingly giving access to our families.

But let’s make sure we’re villainizing the right people.

Elect people who will protect children.
Hold them accountable when they don’t.
Pay attention to what laws are being passed. GET POLITICAL!
It helps no one “staying neutral”
Learn what technology we’re giving access to our families.
And please, protect your babies however you feel is right for YOUR family. If you don’t want your child’s picture online, I will absolutely respect that. ❤️

I refuse to believe that photographers are the villains for doing what we’ve been doing for generations…capturing families, sharing our work, and celebrating childhood.
Just a different perspective from your neighborhood photographer. ❤️📸
And y’all know I’m always going to speak my mind!

“Don’t ever forget who you are, and where you came from.” — Dolly Parton 🤍

Some days I’m a mom of two, trying to soak in every little moment before they grow up.
Some days I’m working a full-time job, answering emails, making dinner, doing laundry, and wondering how there aren’t more hours in a day.

And somewhere in between all of that… I’m a photographer.

I’m building something that’s mine. Something I love. Something I hope my kids see one day and understand that it’s okay to chase a dream, even when life is already full.

Because this version of me didn’t happen overnight. She came from every late night, every hard season, every little sacrifice, and every person and place that helped shape her.

So I’m trying to remember to slow down. To be present. To take the photos. To make the memories. To keep creating.

And most of all, to never forget who I am or where I came from. 🤍📸

Just gonna have a really honest moment here. 🤍

I’m all about supporting other photographers because there are SO many incredibly talented photographers in this area. I truly love seeing people do what they love.

But sometimes this business hurts a little more than people realize.

I feel so incredibly blessed for the people who have trusted me, supported me, and continued to come back year after year. Some of you have become so much more than clients, and I don’t take that for granted.

Because the truth is, it’s crazy how much where you work can affect your business — and even your friendships. When jobs change, sometimes the people around you change too. Friendships fade, connections disappear, and sometimes you lose clients along the way.

And honestly, that part is hard.

Photography has never just been about taking pictures for me. It’s the people, the relationships, and getting to be part of your lives year after year.

So to the ones who continue to choose me, support me, and show up — thank you. You probably don’t realize just how much it means to me. 🤍

Soon to be a family of five 🤍
The weather was beautiful last night for this family. It was great catching up with them. So blessed that this has been the third maternity session with this family. Grateful for people like Shayla and Derek who constantly come back and give me the honor to capture their family.

There’s something so incredibly special about welcoming a baby home. 🤍

The sleepy snuggles, the tiny details, the nursery you’ve dreamed about, and the way your family feels a little more complete. These moments don’t last forever—but in-home newborn photography allows you to hold onto them for years to come.

Your home. Your baby. Your family. Your story. ✨
