Future you is going to care a lot less about social media trends, and a lot more about this.
I’ve read some posts lately suggesting that couples should hire photographers their own age because they’ll “get” each other. Apparently something recently went viral about it??
(Take a wild guess who’s posting this advice 😂)
And I keep thinking about photographs like this one, from last weekend.
Younger me probably would not have made this frame.
Not because I wasn’t technically capable. But experience, personal loss, anticipation, empathy, and yes, AGE, have changed the way I see a wedding day.
I notice different things now.
Every woman in this photograph plays an important role in the bride’s life. No one was arranged here. No one was told where to stand. Nobody yelled, “Okay, everyone gather around the bride and look meaningful!” 😂
Nothing about this moment was scripted or posed.
I simply recognized what was happening and how extraordinary it was to have all of them together, doing what they were naturally doing, in one frame.
And I knew to photograph it.
That comes from understanding that wedding photographs aren’t only about what feels important today.
They’re also about what will feel important 10, 20, 40 years from now.
If you’re looking for a young, hype photographer who’s going to make you TikTok famous, become your instant new best friend, and impress everyone with their moves on the dance floor...
That’s probably not me. 😂
But if you want someone experienced who appreciates tradition without being bound by it, celebrates individuality, anticipates the moments you don’t even realize are happening, and understands just how rare it is to have so many of the people you love together in one place...
I’m your person.
Because someday, this won’t just be a photograph of everyone helping you get dressed.
It’ll be a photograph of all of them, together.
And future you might treasure that more than you can possibly imagine today.
P.S. I think I’m still pretty damn fun. I just might not know the TikTok dance. 😂 But I'm a fast learner...
