This one was taken years ago at Owl Creek near Montrose, Colorado. We were on a fishing outing for the day and my goodness, what a place! Our youngest was twelve, he's now 26 (whaaaaat?!?) Ok, Y'all. Haven't posted this one in a while. The Forest and the Trees is a photo of one of my favorite places. This was taken at Deer Lakes near Lake City, Colorado. The path winds through the quaking aspen trees and the sound they make when the wind blows is pure magic. This beautiful coyote was hunting for voles and mice along the road. We were headed to Creede, Colorado for the day on a girl's trip. We stopped to take photos, and it just ignored us. This little Allen's hummingbird was busy defending a feeder in my yard several years ago. Hummingbirds are ounce for ounce one of the most vicious birds on the planet. They will brutally attack each other if they feel their food supply is in danger.
