We had the opportunity to document Anela Malik’s Savannah stop with Coastal Table & Tales for American Soul: The Black History of Food in the United States.

The best stories don’t stay on pages.

They fill rooms, spark conversation, and remind us that food has always been more than a meal. It’s history, culture, and community.

Grateful to preserve an evening centered around storytelling, shared experiences, and meaningful connection through both photo and video.

The goal was never just to take a photo.

The goal was to create something that would live beyond the moment.

Watching someone I’ve watched work tirelessly for years see a professional photograph I captured of him hanging on the wall at Brass Coyote , alongside other musicians who have become part of the venue’s story, felt special.

Proof that consistency has a way of leaving its mark.

And so the work continues.

The story didn’t end on stage.

This video is a highlight from one competition, but the work extended far beyond a single event.

As Dance Savannah traveled across multiple cities and states, we partnered with the team to create competition highlight reels, promotional content, and a reality-style YouTube series that captured the season from every angle.
The performances were unforgettable, but so were the miles traveled, the preparation, the relationships, and the moments in between.

Because the stage was only one part of the story.

And so the work continues.

The internet wants 2016 back.

I found some old photos while clearing out my Dropbox and realized something:

The girl on commercial sets.
The girl walking runways.
The girl driving BMWs in college.
The girl featured in campaigns and magazines.

I thought I was making memories.

I was becoming the woman I am today.

The woman who creates campaigns instead of appearing in them.
Builds brands instead of promoting them.
Creates opportunities instead of waiting for them.

She wasn’t living her glory days.

She was in training.

And so the work continues.
