Even Armor has a Story

Anne walked into the studio looking completely at ease. Strong. Direct. Unapologetic. The kind of presence that makes you think there's nothing left to discover.
But Unscripted isn't about peeling people apart. It's about making enough room for surprise.
As we played, laughed, explored light and texture, other expressions emerged. Not because the confident version disappeared, but because it wasn't the only one.
That's what fascinates me. We are never just one thing.

Photographing a puppy isn’t about control. It’s about creating enough calm for something real to happen.

There’s a delicate balance during a session like this. Too much pressure can make a dog anxious or overwhelmed. Too little guidance can leave the owner wondering how any of this will turn into a beautiful portrait.

My job is to hold the middle.

I guide the person, give the puppy room to be a puppy, and let them both know that nothing has to be forced. We slow down, adjust, play, and work with what the dog gives us.

This was her first time at the dog beach, and it couldn’t have gone more beautifully. Everyone left happy. The puppy had an experience she’ll be excited to repeat, and her owner now has photographs that preserve the fleeting sweetness of her best friend’s puppyhood.

One day, those oversized paws and that fluffy little face will look completely different.

But she’ll always be this small in these photographs. 🐾

Maybe that's why it's so hard to let our guard down.
Not because we're afraid of the camera.
But because the camera has a way of revealing the quiet stories we've been telling ourselves for years.
Every now and then, though, something beautiful happens.
The performance fades.
The guard slips.
And for a brief moment, we stop trying to become someone worth seeing.....and simply allow ourselves to be seen.
