In the 1st week of August the rain clouds began to sweep over the town of Sandusky. Unsure of what the weather would bring, the Sandusky natives traveled down to their weekly meeting spot hoping to avoid a rainout. And as luck would have it, & after a 1 hour delay. The show was on. The weekly sponsors were up and the show was on.
"Earth to Mars" was the show of the evening. Based in Los Angeles, the tribute band is dedicated to producing the funk sounds of the chart topping artist Peter Gene Hernendez, or as we would know him, Bruno Mars.
Evolving from a child Elvis impersonator to a best selling artist, the multi-instrumentalist and record producer has captured global attention. And now a group of 5 young musicians will come together and put on a show to close out the Party at the Pier/Lange Trust Summer Concert Series.
Starting with “I Just might”, the young performers started with a fiery passion. With the flamboyant shirts and the short jogger pants, the lead singer A. Jay brought the showmanship of Bruno Mars. Without missing a beat he kept the crowd entertained with his array of vocals that had the crowd moving and swaying their hips. Playing all the songs you would remember, "Uptown Funk", “Locked Out of Heaven”, and of course my personal favorite, “24K Magic”. S. Andrews (Bassist) & along with the rest of the crew accompanied him well creating an upbeat night for the crowd. They even played some Earth, Wind, & Fire as well. Young and old, they all were at the stage dancing and showing their best moves.
After a dynamic performance came the America 250th Drone show. The drones were pure magic. The Eagles, Flags, Boy with the Boot, The Red Wagon....if it was Historic to the city, state, or the country, it was on display. The fantastic drone show left the crowd in awe and gave us some awesome memories as we had our last show of the summer. While it was bitter sweet, I was glad the young performers brought the UPTOWN funk to the Downtown Sandusky Pier.
