**Camp Beulah Returns — Eastern Sierra 2026 🍂🏔️**
Well, this certainly wasn't the adventure I had planned! 😆
After months of anticipation, Beulah Ballbreaker was finally making her grand return to the Eastern Sierra, accompanied by her other ugly sister, Francis, a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with a personality all her own.
Three days of camping, photography, and exploring the spectacular autumn colors were on the agenda. Every detail had been carefully coordinated, from the sleeping arrangements and cooking supplies to the camera equipment and everything needed for a few peaceful days in the mountains.
There was just one small problem.
**Mother Nature apparently hadn't received my itinerary!** 😆
With a powerful windstorm heading toward the Sierra, my leisurely three-day escape quickly turned into something entirely different.
After a long drive, an unexpected overnight stay in Carson City, and an early morning departure, Francis and I finally made our way down Highway 395 toward June Lake.
And what a sight awaited us!
The aspens were dressed in brilliant shades of gold and yellow, the mountains were magnificent, and autumn was putting on one spectacular performance. For those few precious hours, everything was exactly as I had hoped.
I wandered, photographed, explored, and simply enjoyed being back in a place that has always held a special place in my heart.
But by late morning, the winds were beginning to pick up, the weather was changing, and Mother Nature was making it perfectly clear that my visit was coming to an end.
Apparently, she had other plans for the weekend, and I wasn't invited! 😆
So Beulah and Francis packed up our dreams of three peaceful days and began the long journey home, staying one step ahead of the approaching storm.
No nights beneath the stars. No leisurely campfire dinners. No waking up surrounded by the mountains.
But I did get something wonderful.
I caught the autumn colors at their peak, spent a little time reconnecting with the landscape I love, and returned home with photographs, memories, and another adventure to add to the collection.
Was it the trip I had envisioned? Not even close.
Was it short, exhausting, and completely worth it?
**Every. Single. Mile.**
At 63, I've learned that sometimes the greatest adventures aren't about how long you stay or how perfectly things go according to plan. They're about knowing when to enjoy the moment, when to change direction, and when to let Mother Nature have the final word.
Besides, Beulah Ballbreaker has never been one to let a little change of plans keep her down.
And Francis? Well, she earned her place in the family.
**Mother Nature may have won this round, but she certainly hasn't heard the last of Beulah Ballbreaker!** 😆🍂
Until next time, Eastern Sierra.
