A little peek behind the scenes.

And yes, I really do dance around while taking photos. (hopefully not always that dorky tho) πŸ˜…

Should I share more behind-the-scenes moments like this?

Why I think intimate weddings are becoming one of the best ways to get married.

Ok, I don't actually think they're the BEST way. 😁 Honestly I think the best wedding is the one that feels right for you.

If your dream is celebrating with 250 of your favorite people, I am 100% here for it. But if you've been feeling drawn to something smaller, trust your gut. Forget what you're "supposed" to do and plan the wedding you actually want.

Here's why I love intimate weddings:

- They're more relaxed. Smaller guest lists usually mean less rushing and more time to actually enjoy the day.

- You get more meaningful time with the people who matter most. Every conversation feels a little more intentional.

- You can make the day completely your own. Hike after your ceremony, play board games, include your dog, exchange vows on a mountaintop...there are endless possibilities!

- You have more freedom with your budget. Spend it on your dream photographer, an amazing dinner, live music, an unforgettable honeymoon, or simply start married life with less financial stress.

- Those little moments become the big moments. Intimate first looks, backyard cake, porch swing conversations, inside jokes with your siblings...those are often the memories couples cherish most.

At the end of the day, there isn't a "right" way to get married. The weddings I remember most aren't the biggest or the most expensive. They're the ones that truly reflected the couple.

So if you're planning your wedding, make it feel like you. β™₯

What do you think? Would you choose a big celebration or something more intimate?

A common question I get asked from couples who are getting married at San Francisco City Hall is, "Should we take our photos before or after our ceremony?"

My answer? It depends.

It depends on your schedule for the day.

Are you planning to head to dinner afterwards? Maybe schedule your couples portraits beforehand so you can skip out earlier and enjoy the evening with your loved ones.

Are you getting married earlier in the morning? Again, I might suggest doing couples portraits before your ceremony because City Hall tends to be less busy first thing in the morning.

But what if you don't want to get up early or you don't have anything scheduled for later? Then you can do your couples portraits after the ceremony! It really depends on how you want to structure your day.

Family portraits, however, I always recommend taking immediately following the ceremony. That way everyone is already there and looking their best.

Wanna know the wedding compromise that nobody talks about?
It's exactly what my partner and I did. You see, we wanted two different weddings. I wanted to elope (honestly, for financial and stress related reasons, haha). He wanted a party with 150 people.

The compromise?

We did both (sorta). We started our day with an intimate wedding on the beach surrounded by family and our closest friends and ended our day at a local brewery with over 150 people. We both got our dream wedding (and saved some $ by not having to rent a space for the ceremony - woo!)

I say "sorta" because technically we didn't elope. But the main reasoning for me was that I didn't want a huge audience while we exchanged our vows and I wanted the day to be relaxed and stress-free. By having a smaller, more intimate ceremony followed by a fun party at a brewery, we got the best of both worlds.

And no, that's not me in the photos above. But after I photographed L + D's wedding at this location, I knew I wanted to get married here, too. :) (And we did!)

Send this post to a friend that's planning their own wedding! They might find it helpful.

Instead of telling your child(red) to "smile" at your next family photo session, try doing this instead:

Give them tickles, make silly noises, act goofy yourself. As the parents, you set the tone of the session. If you're stressed out and overly-serious about the perfect family photo, your kids will feel it. But if you're relaxed and having fun, they will pick up on your energy and feel it too! Trust me when I say, the more silly and goofy you can be with your kiddos, the better the photos. Have FUN and trust the process. :)

Film stills from A + A’s wedding ceremony on Montara State Beach. It was the perfect afternoon filled with sunshine, a warm breeze, and sand in between their toes. All while being surrounded by their closest friends and family. This is the kind of ceremony you’ll never forget. ❀️
