I have had clients ask me if morning proposals would still photograph well and I always tell them the same thing, absolutely.

Morning light has its own kind of beauty. The photos tend to feel more vibrant and airy in a completely different way than sunset sessions. Plus, usually less crowds, quieter beaches, easier parking, and honestly… a quiet morning stroll along the coast sounds pretty relaxing to me!

Proposal tip: I would not get too locked into thinking golden hour is the only “good” light. Different times of day create different moods, and sometimes the mood matters more than chasing the “perfect” sunset. Bonus tip: sometimes those beach tides are lower in the morning and better for shoots 🙃

I’ve had clients ask me if morning proposals would still photograph well and I always tell them the same thing, absolutely.

Morning light has its own kind of beauty. The photos tend to feel more vibrant and airy in a completely different way than sunset sessions. Plus, usually less crowds, quieter beaches, easier parking, and honestly… a quiet morning stroll along the coast sounds pretty relaxing to me!

This proposal started with coffee, followed by a stroll, and ended with one of the sweetest morning proposals.

Proposal tip: I would not get too locked into thinking golden hour is the only “good” light. Different times of day create different moods, and sometimes the mood matters more than chasing the “perfect” sunset.

When I was younger, my mom used to constantly scold me for dragging my feet when I walked. I used to roll my eyes every single time she called me out for it. Welp… this moment reminded me exactly why we listen to our moms.

On my way to photograph a proposal, mentally already in photographer mode and thinking through the shoot, I somehow absolutely ate it on the sidewalk. Banged up my knees, slammed my shoulder, tweaked my back… all while tourists nearby probably got a front row seat to the chaos. Honestly, I am sure I am featured in some tourist’s cinematic sunset vacation montage somewhere on the internet.

Add this injury to the growing list of injuries I’ve collected during shoots because apparently when I’m mentally immersed in a shoot, the rest of the world stops existing.

Photographers… please tell me I’m not the only one who has injured themselves while mentally preparing for a shoot? 😂
