🐛 A pretty incredible little moment in the world of moths!

I came across this pair of Delicate Cycnia moths (Cycnia tenera), also known as Dogbane Tiger Moths, and caught them in the process of mating.

These beautiful moths are easy to recognize by their soft white wings, orange-yellow head and thorax, and the thin golden-orange edging along their forewings.

But here’s where they get really interesting—they’re not as quiet as they look! Delicate Cycnia moths can produce ultrasonic clicking sounds. Males use ultrasound during courtship, and these moths also produce ultrasonic signals associated with defense against bats. 🦇

The pair in these photos are joined at the abdomen and facing opposite directions, which is a normal mating position for moths. They can remain connected for quite some time while reproduction takes place.

The more time I spend looking closely at the smaller wildlife around us, the more I realize just how much is happening right under our noses. 🌿

 🐸💚 Tiny, bright, and perfectly camouflaged!

Green tree frogs are one of those little creatures that can be easy to overlook until you slow down and start paying attention. Their vibrant green color helps them blend right into leaves and vegetation, and those sticky toe pads make them incredible climbers.

I always enjoy finding these little guys while I’m out exploring. Wildlife doesn’t have to be big to be worth appreciating—or photographing! 📸🌿🐸
