SCROLL TO GET A KISS!! We have camera shy dogs and then we have a very special girl named Diamond who comes right up to the camera and plants a big ol kiss right on the lens. She made me laugh so hard! (No I don’t care about dog kisses in the slightest.) I think it says a lot about a dog’s socialization and personality when they aren’t afraid of a big black mysterious camera that clicks in their face. As you can see from the last picture, Diamond is super proud of herself and was happy to meet me! Go adopt this sweet girl at Barking for a Cause Animal Rescue of Oklahoma!!

Before Spring makes way for Summer, we had a little spring photoshoot at Sallisaw Animal Care Facility this week! 🌷🐝🌱 While you're indoors this week from the upcoming April Showers🌧️, take a look at these flowers🌼 ready for picking!! There are a LOT of pups in need at shelters right now, including some puppies. Swipe to the end if you want to see a special photo of Franklin, the shelter Guardian, photobombing some of our dog portrait sessions. Green background for boys, and yellow for girls! There are a lot of male herding breeds and yellow girls at the Sallisaw shelter right now, so pay attention to the names! What do you do if you have dogs and are suddenly EXPECTING? Or maybe you have a newborn that is demanding all of your attention right now, and suddenly, you’re feeling guilty and thinking “my dogs don’t deserve this new life where I can’t give them the attention they deserve or are used to.” So what do you do?

You keep your dogs. This new phase of life is a season. I have always had 3 dogs. When my son came into the picture, he was born with additional medical needs and my life suddenly looked completely different. I remember looking at my dogs who were separated from him for the first year of his life and saying “I’m sorry. It’ll get back to normal soon. I promise.” And it did! Because this is a season of life. Keep your dogs. They are as much family as the new baby.

Because I promise, the little attention you’re able to give them in that season is far better than a shelter/rehoming situation, where they are confused and waiting for you to return. The little time with you is more than they could want anywhere else.
