I was so excited to have my work at the 2025 Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition, but was overjoyed to see that I had received and award from the Friends of the Hopkins Center for the Arts! Just an amazing feeling to have more people see images of these beautiful elders from our local Hmong community, and learn their stories!

Each year, the Friends of the Hopkins Center for the Arts Board selects a piece of art from the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition to be the recipient of the Hopkins Center for the Arts sponsored award. Congratulations to this year's winner, Richard Leonard Schultz for his archival digital print, titled "Sao Lou Vue."

I had the privilege of being on MPR News today to talk about ‘Of Distance and Time’.

2025 marks 50 years since Hmong people started immigrating to Minnesota. To commemorate the milestone, local organization Minnesota Zej Zog is working to preserve the stories of 50 years and beyond.

For the last 8 months, I have been working on a grant with the amazing team at MN Zej Zog to celebrate the lives and legacy of the elder Hmong women of Minnesota. It has been a transformative experience for me to work with these indomitable women, whose spirit and strength resonate through the fabric of our state.

It is with great pleasure I announce the grand opening of our photography exhibit, entitled: Yav Ntuj Qub Qab | Of Distance and Time.

The public event will be Saturday, January 25th, 2025 from 12-9 PM at Vandalia Tower in St. Paul, MN.

This portrait exhibit is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

We invite you to celebrate the beauty, strength, and legacy of these incredible women.

Yav Ntuj Qub Qab | Of Distance and Time is a portrait photography exhibition, celebrating the wisdom, strength, and experiences of Hmong elder women through portraiture.
