Hot take of the day 🔥
As a photographer, I constantly see posts from other photographers where they feel the need to put down and shame other styles.
A short example:
“So often with natural light photographers, they hide their lack of photography talent by only offering natural light photos without the use of flash photography and label it as natural light photography. When you book with me, I seamlessly capture the photos you desire rain or shine because of my photography knowledge.”
What is crazy to me is that they felt the need to shame other photographers.
Photography is an art form whether or not you want to admit it.
Every photographer has different styles, views, opinions, and knowledge of the craft. That’s why it is an art form.
That’s why not every client is made for every photographer.
Photography takes time. Photography is expensive. Photography evolves every day with technology. Photography is subjective.
If you feel like this marketing works for you, I’m happy for you that you are getting business!
But let’s also consider the possibility that maybe- just maybe- people do in fact shoot with natural light because they WANT to, not because of lack of knowledge.
I have so much to learn and expand on and I’ve been doing this for many years, how is it fair to judge people who have just begun this journey?
I am professionally trained in both, and I will always prefer natural light. And that’s OKAY! That’s what makes this job so much fun! 🤩 I love seeing people get excited and creative- for everyone’s work to look the same would be depressing!
Let’s lift each other up 💪🏽 It’s not the competition that matters, it’s making sure creatively we are fulfilled.
