To say I'm proud of my baby cousin would be an understatement. She has accomplished all of her dreams thus far and I know will continue to do so. Somewhere on the journey of following in the footsteps of her older cousins, she passed us all up by holding the most titles for our beloved Boucherie and Jambalaya Festivals.

And even with all of that, I know her greatest accomplishment is the title RN.

I've been able to photograph her for every occasion through the years, and this post is certainly special. Check out little Ava from my favorite session ever when she was Tiny Miss Boucherie back in 2006. And then a few weeks ago we took these during her official 2025 Miss Boucherie & Balloon session to commemorate her achievements in serving our local community and festivals through the years.

To my girl, Avana, you did an amazing job as Teen Miss Boucherie, Miss Gonzales Jambalaya and finally Miss Boucherie & Balloon Queen. Your dedication and passion for making sure the rest of Louisiana sees what our AP Festivals have to offer is remarkable. Congratulations on being an outstanding role model, an ambassador of Ascension Parish and thank you for ALL the miles you traveled representing throughout the years. You have made our family so proud. I cannot wait to celebrate your very own Boucherie & Balloon Festival with you this weekend. Love you!

This little Ava session was done in my dining room of my old house on Hwy 22 back in 2006 when I got my first studio light and background.

The session as Miss Boucherie & Balloon was taken on Sept 28, 2026, at the Cajun Village in Sorrento, LA - chasing any leftover daylight - she said something like, "......we have to because I only have one chance to get these shots!" and she was so right! Super glad that we captured these. All those banners taking up every inch of her arms certainly was symbolic!!!! 👑

Are you or someone you know a young lady between the ages of 18-23* who would love the opportunity to become the 43rd Miss Boucherie & Balloon Queen? *Must have a primary residence in Ascension Parish and not be older than 23 as of December 31, 2026.

No experience necessary, but the possibility of a year full of fun and new experiences!

It's Boucherie & Balloon Festival & Pageant Month!!!!! I dusted off the old camera this week to do a session with these two beauties. 👑

The 2026Boucherie & Balloon Festival will be held in Sorrento on Airline Hwy at the School Board Property October 16-18th!

The 2026 Boucherie Pageant will be held at the Sorrento Primary School Cafeteria on October 24th. There will be NO DOOR ENTRIES this year and the deadline to register online is Saturday, October 17th.

👑 Boucherie King — ages 0–5
👑 Girls of ALL ages — from 0 to 24+, including married women and moms!
💫 Teen (14–17) & Miss (18–23*) contestants must be residents of Ascension Parish. *Miss contestant must not be older than 23 on December 31st, 2026.

E!!!! It's graduation time!!!! The years went by so fast, but some how you still have your whole life ahead of you. I've enjoyed watching you grow up......taking lots of pictures along the way.
