Sheriff Clint Roach reports that on 09/06/2026 at approximately 2:22 Pm, deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash at the interception of M-60 and Yankee Street, Howard Township, Cass County Michigan.

The investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Christine Grosse (66 years old from South Bend, IN) was headed southwest at the intersection of M-60 and Yankee Street. Another vehicle driven by Mark Peacock (76 years old from South Bend, IN) was eastbound at the intersection of Yankee Street and M-60. Witnesses stated that the Southbound vehicle ran the red light and crashed into the Eastbound vehicle.

Peacock's passenger, Pamela Peacock (73 years old from South Bend, IN) and Christine Grosse were both transported by SMCAS Ambulance to Lakeland Niles Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

Assisting agencies on scene were MSP, Howard Fire, SMCAS, and RB Towing.

All parties wore Seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Saginaw caretaker fights to get 2 abandoned boys into school

SAGINAW, Mich. (WJRT) - Two boys living in a Saginaw home have no school to attend as the new school year begins.

Sam Restifo says the children, now 14 and 12 years old, were dropped off at his home in February 2025 by a woman he did not know. He has been caring for them ever since in a home on Holland Avenue that currently has no running water or electricity.

"They have nobody, the mom is missing pretty much, they have no dads that are in their life, never had Christmas presents," Restifo said.

The home was owned by a friend of Restifo's who passed away five years ago. Restifo says he has been trying to save the home but faces challenges.

Sam Restifo says the two young boys were left at his house in February 2025.

Flint Post troopers stopped a car for multiple equipment violations and no insurance on 9/4/26 about 10:20 a.m. near the 4300 block of Corunna Rd. in Flint Twp.

The driver, a 32-year-old Flint man, had multiple warrants for his arrest. When contacted by troopers, he ran and was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit and taser deployment. He had suspected co***ne and an illegal firearm (no serial number and).

The man was arrested for the warrants, resisting and obstructing arrest, and several felony fi****ms charges. He was treated and released from a local hospital for minor injuries prior to being lodged in the Genesee County Jail.
