1. The Reluctant Partner - I always ask for a little team spirit from everyone—especially the spouses who might rather be watching the game! I promise to make it quick, easy, and completely painless, but I need you to bring your best smile so we can capture the joy your family sees in you every day. Please make sure you prep your spouse and kids with expectations for a fun and playful experience!
2. The Stressed-Out Micromanaging - I gently ask parents to step out of the ‘director’s chair.’ When you’re worrying about the kids sitting perfectly still or saying cheese, it takes away from the fun. Let me handle the silly noises and the chasing—your only job is to relax, laugh, and love on your babies.
3. The Beat-The-Clock Rush - I really encourage arriving a few minutes early. Golden hour light fades so fast, and kids need a moment to settle into a new space. Staying on schedule means we never have to rush the magic, and everyone gets to stay calm and happy.
4. The Negative Self-Talk - My sessions are a strictly body-positive, self-love zone! It breaks my heart when parents pick themselves apart during a shoot. Your kids see you as the center of their universe, and I see you as beautiful—so let’s leave the inner critic at home and focus on the love.
5. The “Perfect” Dynamic (Expecting Perfect Behavior) - I don’t expect ‘perfect’ behavior from your little ones. If there’s a meltdown, a messy face, or a wild toddler who just wants to run—take a deep breath! Some of the most beautiful, authentic photos come from the chaotic, unscripted moments. Real is always better than perfect.
