There is SO much to say and at the same time, I am speechless. Until I can find the perfect words, I will just say this…… I said yes! 💍

Ok so why am I standing with my back to my client? Because reflections make me happy!!! I am photographing her reflection in the mirror using the mirror itself to frame her and give the image interest. I love looking for reflections anywhere I can find them. It’s challenging, creative and clients love it!! Do you use reflections in your work?

Instagram I need your help. I’m in search of 3-5 women who have had breast cancer or a prophylactic mastectomy that have nature inspired tattoos on their chest. These women need to be willing to show their chest and sign model releases for sharing on social media. If you are interested please email me [email protected]. My Instagram family - please share and help me make my vision come to life. 💖📸🌸

It’s been a long time since I have told you a little about me and since I have some new followers, now seems like a good time to reintroduce myself.

I am Jen! 👋

I am a photographer, a Nikon ambassador and I love working to show women how f*cking amazing they are trough my lens.

I am a cancer survivor. I had breast cancer in 2017 and underwent chemo and bilateral mastectomies plus reconstructive surgeries.

In 2020, in the midst of Covid, I filed for divorce from my husband of 16 years. I am a single mom to two teenagers who are the light of my life.

In addition to being a photographer, I also have an accessory business because I am addicted to fashion and sparkle. I also run my family business which has been around over 40 years now.

Currently I am in the process of healing, relearning and reinventing myself in middle age. I am loving the freedom middle age has given me to be myself unapologetically.

Some days I survive. Some days I thrive. I’m learning how to create more thriving days. I do this by allowing for joy in my life as much as I can. It can be something small like puppy cuddles or an amazing slice of pizza or something huge like being loved by the most amazing man in the world. Life is about finding an embracing the moments that mean the most.

I’m also terrible at answering texts, emails and most messages for that matter. I make a killer banana bread and yes, I am shorter than I look. I love rainbows and I am a jewelry freak. I have a new found love for growing plants 🪴 (I guess that’s a middle age thing?). I also don’t care if they are out of style, I still wear no show socks. Oh and speaking of socks - my socks always match! Never mismatched socks for me. I have a fear of heights and water but never fear failure. I love hard, feel deeply and am so happy to have all of you here with me. Now it’s your turn. Tell me something about you! 👇🏻💖😌

Learning photography (or anything for that matter)? I know it’s frustrating at times. Just remember, the fun is in the journey. The small victories. The creative moments. Soak them in and enjoy them!

You must know that in any moment a decision you make can change the course of your life forever, the very next person who you stand behind in line or sit next to on an aeroplane, the very next phone call you make or receive, the very next movie you see or book you read or page you turn could be the one single thing that causes the floodgates to open, and all of the things that you’ve been waiting for to fall into place.

In life, no one escapes unscathed. We will all face challenges. What separates us is what we do with them. Will you use your challenge as an excuse to cower in the corner or will it be the fuel you need to bust out of your mold and transform into the person you are meant to be. No great success story comes without struggle.

Life after cancer is beautiful chaos. Navigating it is a forever process. It’s not about getting over it. It’s about learning to live with it and using it to build your new self.
