It's that time of year again, folks - when I suddenly remember that I have a facebook and not everyone follows me on instagram. (And if this is you, give me a follow over there because I am much more active than I am here!)

First thing's first: I've really had to re-think my process from the ground up this year. So, I have made a few changes with my schedule and turnaround times to keep myself sane and maintain a healthy work-life balance so busy season isn't absolutely kicking my ass.

AVAILABILITY:

I am now unavailable for sessions Monday-Wednesday during the week with few exceptions. These are days dedicated to office time, editing, client calls, admin and personal appointments.

Weekday sessions are limited to three per week (again, with few exceptions) so if you haven't already claimed a date for your family session, please reach out asap to get on my calendar before availability runs out for the season.

To hopefully alleviate some of the pressure of booking or getting photos in time for Christmas cards, I currently have two mini session dates on the schedule for this month (links and info will be coming in separate posts) with spots still available.

TURNAROUND TIMES

I currently have a minimum standard turnaround time of 4 weeks for any session 2 hours and under (this generally excludes events). I do my best to get galleries out early whenever possible, but that is a happy surprise and not a guarantee.

Any session or event 2 hours and over: 4-6 weeks.
Weddings (of any size): 6-8 weeks with a sneak peek to tide you over.

You must have your session booked by the first week of November in order to get your full gallery back by the start of December. I am always happy to send a small sneak peek if you booked last minute and need something for a holiday card but the rest of your gallery with be delivered by your promised turnaround time.

If things ever get away from me and I'm running behind with gallery deliveries by more than just a day or two, I will always reach out to you directly and let you know when you can expect it in your inbox.

OOPS THIS GOT LONG. Thank you if you read to the end!

HI FRIENDS. Just a quick HELLO to let everyone know that as of March, I moved back to Richmond! There have been a lot of big life changes this year and finding balance among the busy season hustle has been a unique challenge. Please have patience with gallery deliveries. For the most part, they are running on time, give or take a day or two. If you have questions about yours, please feel free to reach out and if I feel like your photos will be significantly late (like an extra week?) I'll notify you personally with a timeframe you can expect to find it in your email!

LOVE YOU ALL and as always, thank you for your support and for keeping me busy. 🫶🏻

I remember a long time ago when my career was young, I told someone, "I don't want to be a birthday party photographer" and wow have the times changed. At that point, I had just moved away from my 6 years at JCPenney portraits and I had a couple of terrible event experiences right in a row where I heavily undercharged, didn't ask the right questions and got taken advantage of. Both events happened to be birthday parties. I was frustrated and I wrote them off for a while thinking if that's how it was going to be, I'd do something else! But woops, I didn't have a clue what "something else" was. So I went every which way, saying yes to all manner of jobs and followed the whims of demand, all for the sake of money and gaining clients. I could go on for miles about why this was the wrong choice but instead I'll just say this:

At the end of the day, work is work. It can be taxing just like any job. But I knew that if I didn't start letting my own joy lead the way, I would never last. Demand and trends be damned, I HAD to do what sparked joy for ME. And now, years later, here I am photographing birthday parties and it's one of my favorite things to document! As a mom, birthday parties aren't just a celebration of your children getting older, they're a celebration of you and your own journey as parents. Growing older and wiser right alongside your kids.

And ya know, getting to chase a gaggle of littles around while they blow bubbles and play and run wild? There's nothing better. ❤️

These full circle moments can be so beautiful, don't you think?

It's not often that I run into parties like this one! Almost EVERYONE got on that dance floor and the dancing didn't stop until the grand exit was announced. One of my favorite receptions by far. 🙌

Part one of Emma and Ryan's gorgeous gorgeous wedding from last spring. This was such a great day. I loved how beautiful the church was, I loved the bright sunny weather, I loved how goofy and unserious the couple was. And the party is going to be a post all on its own. 🎉

Getting to photograph the wedding of a friend is one of the highest honors. This was so intimate and beautiful (and my first time working at the poe museum!) I was having such a nice time that I could have stayed all day (and almost accidentally did. lol)
