I don't very often edit a full session with Elvin but thought I'd go ahead this time and show his 'being patient with me' expression in several different get ups. He actually loves to be in the studio and knows he gets the very best treats on the day I put him in front of the camera.

What happens in editing?
Every picture is different and needs different touches, but every picture needs cleaning up. The first is after I've done LightRoom edits and pulled the image into PhotoShop, and the second picture is after some basic PhotoShop clean up. Final image posted separately. 🥰

This area is where I planned to have sheep clear the ground for me put turns out it’s not suitable for them so I’ll be doing it as I can manage, then cover the ground in cardboard and top with cartloads of the mulch mountain high in my driveway (from the oak tree that had to come down). You can also see that I’ve staked out the pathway leading from the road to the front door of the studio and put small flower beds on each side of the front porch. I’m excited to make progress but I think today is a day for pulling poison ivy, while the ground is soft.

Planning is turning into action here and this huge red oak tree has to go, sadly. It’s been on my list for a few years but it wasn’t until my consult with a landscaping pro that it became urgent and so yesterday it began. The tree trimmers pointed out that they found a small bird in one of the branches so they set that piece aside with hopes he’d reclaim his home. He looks like a fledgling to me and I’ve learned he’s a brown headed nut hatch. Early this morning I thought I could see him tucked deep into his home and later in the morning there was a lot of bird activity at his space that I suspect (hope) was his parents taking care of him. And now, just back from my walk with Elvin, I don’t see him at all. But at least I know he was reunited and in good care. Also, I’d like to point out what a spectacular day it is here in Richmond. Look at that blue sky!

Next week I’m consulting with RVA Goats to see if a team of goats here is a good solution for clearing the under growth throughout my yard. That could be super fun, especially compared to pulling it all by hand.

I put a picture of the little bird in the comments, and maybe there will be goats later.
