After more than six years of service, Colonel, Kadlec’s first K9 partner, is retiring.

Colonel became part of the Kadlec team in November 2019 and quickly won over the hearts of caregivers. Since then, he has been a strong and steady presence across our campuses, doing what he was meant to do best—helping de-escalate situations and bringing a calming presence when it was needed most.

Now Colonel is beginning a well-earned retirement, where he’ll spend more time enjoying some of his favorite things: squeaky toys, fetch, tug-of-war, swimming and being with Phil (his hander) and his family, who love him dearly.
