My 6 part series on locations to consider this summer. Part 6 is an urban location. If you’ve done nature in the past, consider something colorful, a little funky and with views of iconic buildings. The Space Needle, Olympic Sculpture Park and Gasworks Park in Seattle are hip, have a variety of backdrops and are large enough to not feel crowded in. Choosing clothes that are casual will complete the overall vibe.

Which vibe will you pick for your family photos this summer?

My 6 part series on locations to consider this summer. Part 5 is the beach! Ferries, rocks, driftwood, water and even seaweed are all entertaining for kiddos. Coupled with a warm breeze, the beach is a beautiful spot for summery family photos. Beaches are best the hour before sunset when the sun is lower in the sky. And always pack a spare change of clothes in case a rogue kiddo jumps head first into the water right as we start 😊

My 6 part series on locations to consider this summer. Part 4 is a flower field! Lavender, zinnias, sunflowers and even wildflowers… is a photographers dream! On a clear day, you might even see Mt. Rainier or a rogue hot air balloon! Weekdays are less crowded than weekends and the best bloom is the end of July to mid August. 😎

My 6 part series on locations to consider this summer. Part 3 is a mountain & river backdrop. This spot gives you all the Pacific Northwest vibes. We have a giant field to run around in, trees that can filter the light and give you a golden glow, a pretty and quiet river spot, and awesome mountain views. This spot is one of my favorites!

My 6 part series on locations to consider this summer. Part 2 is a garden! All the colors and layers in a garden are visually stunning. I love shooting close up, far away and framing your family with all the colorful flowers.

My 6 part series on locations to consider this summer. Part 1 is a field! I love the tall wispy grasses and the ability to use the sun in three different ways. Backlit for glowy hair, front lit to take in the entire environment and silhouette for creativity.

What goes through my mind as I prepare for spring family photos! I’m always looking for ways to add variety to your gallery. By scouting locations ahead of time and visualizing the flow, I’ll know the best lighting and framing at a given time. So that when your session rolls around, I can give my full attention to your family, which often entails running around, near and far, high and low (cardio workout ✅) capturing different angles, posed and candid and delivering a diverse gallery to you. Here's an example of one location, with 4 different spots!

Photo 1: I loved the colors this random sidewalk had, with its flowers and layers.

Photo 2: This pathway had pretty shades of green. The path provided even lighting and the nearby bush had beautiful framing.

Photo 3: The cherry blossoms were still in bloom. I got down low so that I could fill the frame with cherry blossoms for mom.

Photo 4: The main reason we were here was this rocky beach. Since it was a cold and windy day, I wanted to end here, to avoid freezing too quickly.

Dear Algorithm, please send me more sweet and playful families—the kind who love to cuddle and to laugh through the silly and chaotic moments!

For this session, I started with a quick walkthrough and immediately knew we had to settle in right by this beautiful, oversized window. It gave us such soft, even light. We also stepped outside to add variety to the gallery—keeping that same soft, flattering light while capturing a few relaxed moments.

Branding Photos for Physical Therapists, by a Physical Therapist.

In an age where our attention spans are getting shorter, first impressions matter! You only get a second to hook a future patient so replace those boring stock photos with photos that represent YOU. Real images of you working with patients and guiding their recovery, so we can build trust before the first appointment is even scheduled. I am a hospital based PT and a photography business owner. My superpower is making people feel at ease and cheering them on when the going gets tough. As a small biz owner, I know the many hats you need to juggle and the types of photos you need to look trustworthy. So let’s work together to create images that immediately communicate professionalism, warmth and expertise. 💪
