Caught this house finch puffing up like he had something to prove. Maybe he did. Or maybe he was just soaking in the moment. Either way, I’m here for it. If you love birds, wildlife, and the little things worth slowing down for, hit follow. I put out new nature content regularly and there’s so much more to come.

This chestnut—backed chickadee was enjoying the new bird station I built!

If you haven’t seen it check out my earlier post!

🐦 Built this DIY bird feeding station from scratch and I am SO happy with how it turned out!

This thing is fully loaded — two large seed blocks, a hanging feeder, a hummingbird feeder, a seed & nut container for larger birds, and flowers planted right in the base to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Basically a five-star resort for backyard wildlife. 🦋🌸

How I made it:
I started with an old half barrel I wasn’t using and filled it with 80 lbs of quick-set cement to anchor a cedar post. Let it cure overnight, then the next day I cut all the boards to size, attached the corbels with screws and exterior glue, and used a nail gun for the cross boards. Sanded the whole thing smooth, wiped it down, and finished it with leftover clear exterior stain from my fence project.

Mine came out 6.5 feet tall and 33 inches wide, but you can size it however works for your yard!

Once everything dried I hung the feeders and planted some pollinator-friendly plants around the base. Start to finish, the whole build took about 5 hours.

If this is on your summer project list, save this post! 🙌
