UPDATE:

A lot of clustered thermal hotspots appear to be populated around Odessa, Midland, and Big Spring.

This can usually indicate a growing fire, intense heat activity, or elevated surface temperatures.

There is nothing major so far, but we'll keep you folks updated regardless.

Ooh, how pretty! Is this California? Somewhere along the Florida coastline?

Nope. This is on the western edge of Lavon Lake in Texas.

A lot of us may assume it's somewhere near an ocean, because a lot of us are too unbothered to step outside our own backyards.

This is a lunar corona hovering over Wylie, Texas this morning at 6:46 AM.

A lunar corona is an optical phenomenon that occurs when moonlight passes through thin, semi-transparent clouds. Hence, the moonlight is bent around tiny water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.
