What do you remember about the day you met your baby?

I am the kind of person that if I didn't have instead of a journal entry of all moment, I tend to forget it. But, with the birth of each of my kids, I remember very sweet special and emotionally charged moments.

1. Baby 1: I remember the Dr saying 'you bother a toddler' when he was born. (He was 9lbs 15 oz)

2. Baby 2: I felt such peace laboring in the shower and empowered as I advocated for myself and baby.

3. Baby 3: His is still fresh, but my favorite moment, aside from his arrival, was knowing I was in transition and focusing while singing Deliver Us from Prince of Egypt between the brief breaks.

Let's talk Cake Smash Sessions!

Baby milestones are some of my favorite sessions to do but a cake smash is just lends itself to so many great images! These sessions typically go one of 2 ways.
1. Baby dives right into the cake. Double fi**ed, all smiles and all excitement.
2. Baby is apprehensive and hardly touches the cake.

To be honest, I don't know which is better because the apprehensive little one warms up within a few minutes and starts to slowly go for the cake like the one above.

Pro tip: if your little one has never had sweets before or seen a cake they may need some encouragement to go after the cake. Mom or dad, get in there and have fun too! Show them how to swipe the icing or grab some cake.

Valentine's Day was never my favorite holiday. As a kid I loved the candy. But I always was anxious about the cards I would give out or the cards I would get.... Yes even the ones that are pre created haha.

As a teen I was preoccupied with the candy grams or flowers that were passed out in school and secretly deep down a little disappointed I didn't have a 'secret admirer."

As an early college student, I was worried about getting asked out for Valentine's thinking it would mean something too big. Then I was annoyed when the person I wanted to be my Valentine wasn't.

Once I was married, I truly didn't care about it anymore because I had my forever Valentine..... But, now that I am a mom I LOVE it!! I love making EVERY holiday special and bigger than it truly needs to be. I probably got that from my mom. So... Will my kids have pictures for every Holiday... So can yours!!

Aren't our bodies amazing!?! We are capable of creating, growing and birthing a human!

As a maternity photographer, I love capturing the natural, raw beauty of our divine destinies as mothers. The bond you and your child have during pregnancy is unmatched. Never will be this close with them or anyone else.
