🎵 Closing Time... but first—one last round of magic.

Fifteen years.

Three of those years have been spent inside these beautiful walls at 157 N. Main Street.

It's hard to believe the final days are here.

This studio has held so much life—new babies, growing families, milestones, tears, laughter, hugs, celebrations, and thousands of moments that families will carry with them forever.

Over the last two weekends, I'll be photographing this space the way it all began—no elaborate sets, no furniture, just beautiful light, the character of this old studio... and the swing, of course. A quick round of magic micro sessions to button up this chapter 🤍

I have a feeling these final sessions are going to be some of my favorites yet.

Remember when….

The new studio was just a bed, and it’s natural beauty? With less than a month left inside those beautiful walls I felt the need to shoot it in its natural state. I’ve been shooting in this space since it was a dilapidated warehouse with gaping holes in the floors and no walls. So much magic. I needed to extend my lease a month to capture some last minute simple studio micros - bottling up as many dances, laughs, and magic as I can fit in before the end of the month - swing included.

15 years I’ve had my own space. 3 of those years in Pittston. The end of this chapter seems a bit scary but with health demands high at home it’s unavoidably time to force myself to slow down. But I’m fairly certain these last bits of magic micros are going to be some of my favorites in Pittston yet 🥰

Dear newly diagnosed mom,
I see you.
You're sitting on your bathroom floor holding another handful of your child's hair - letting out tears you’ve been hiding from everyone.
You're staring at test strips and Dexcom graphs. Carb ratios and correction factors. Trying to math all the things, figure out sliding scales and placing ketones strips around the bathrooms like tissue boxes.
You're grieving things that you see diabetes taking from them. Little lives changed in a blink.
You're wondering if life will ever feel... normal again.
These photos are for you.
MJ wasn't even a year into diagnosis yet. Barely six months.
She had recently gotten her pump, and a few months earlier her hair had started falling out to an alarming degree. And when I say alarming... I mean it.
I cried quietly behind her as I brushed so she couldn’t see me in the mirror.
To everyone else, it was just hair.
To me, it felt like another thing diabetes had taken.
For most of her life, her long, thick blonde curls were simply part of who she was. People stopped us everywhere to talk about her beautiful hair. It fell well past her waist before diagnosis.
After we came home from the PICU, I felt lost. I was lost. But she was so strong. So resilient.

About two weeks later, her hair started knotting in ways it never had before. I’d never seen anything like the mass of knot that was the back of her head after simply hanging out in her hammock with a friend. Mounds of dead hair tangled in the hair I was carefully trying to save.
I didn't know it then, but that was just the beginning.
Within days, I was brushing handfuls of hair from her head every single day.
She joked there was so much she could play volleyball with it. She did.
I cried when she wasn't looking.

Turns out IG thinks I talk to much -- 𝕚𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨 𝕞𝕖, 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨 𝕚𝕥 -- so the rest of the story is in the comments
