Today was the day…VMA-223 flew the final USMC Harrier flight for the Harrier Sundown. While I was unable to make the final flight, I wanted to share more from their final public show weekend a few weeks ago, now flying off into history. Thanks for the memories 🇺🇸🤙. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.

The Blue Angel Double Farvel is another trademark of the team. Still flying in the right diamond formation but with lead and slot pilots inverted. Looks simple, but incredibly difficult flying in tight formation with two jets essentially having control inputs reversed (up is down, down is up, right is left, left is right).

AV-8B Break to Land 2026 Cherry Point. Sadly it looks like I’m not making it to the Harrier Sundown, so these shots from the last Airshow will have to do. Less than 24 hours until these birds land for the final time during their USMC service. VMA-223 Bulldogs bringing it home.

Quite possibly the most scenic location for an airshow I’ve ever been to, and it’s not all that far from home! Blue Angels transition from line abreast formation with solo detach at the end. Great to see these maneuvers from a new perspective.

F4U-4 Corsair ‘Korean War Hero’Rolls to Inverted, hangs it there, then rolls upright, all extra smooth and with the combination of that R2800 radial and iconic Harrier whine in the background.

KC-130J and F-35B Refueling Simulation Pass. Always liked seeing the KC-130 simulated refueling passes, especially with some Marine strike fighters like the F-35B involved. The C-130 might just be the most versatile aircraft ever built. What do you think?

F-16 Knife Edge Pass…because we can all use a mid day dose of afterburner thunder 😎🔥. Love the painted Viper 50 jet but it’s neat seeing the dark gray jet in action too!

Whenever there’s a bunch of big lenses pointed at the sky, odds are something fun is there. Follow the photographers 📸 Missing this beautiful P-51 Mustang on the show circuit this year, hopefully Scooter is able to get her back in the skies soon!

What’s better then an F-22 Raptor in full burner? An F-22 in full burner at twilight 🔥🔥… lighting ALWAYS makes the difference, and you’d be hard pressed to find better than at Oshkosh.
