The horse with the Golden Ticket...

With the roundup on my mind, we headed into the basin to see these incredible animals one more time before so many will be taken from the only land they have ever known.

We were lucky enough to see Meteor at sunset - the only horse who is almost guaranteed to stay wild and free in the upcoming days.

To the horses of the Sand Wash Basin the Horse Management Area is just another area with fences to navigate around- and in that lies much of the conflict surrounding these beauties.

This stallion was seen at a watering hole just outside of the HMA. We saw 25-30 horses in this one small area, including foals. Numbers outside of the Basin are estimated- and are likely greatly underestimated. It is unknown what the BLM has planned for these horses and what the future will bring....
