16 miles into the backcountry, draped in dense morning mist, I stopped dead on the trail. What sounded like a massive pack of wild coyotes fighting was echoing through the trees right in front of me.
I stood there on the trail, contemplating my options: do I wait and risk a losing pack seeking retribution, or raise my trekking poles as spears and boldly step forward?
Turns out, the backcountry has a wild sense of humor. It was a sled dog kennel waiting for breakfast! 🐕
