We’re at the precarious time of the year where time seems to fly by in a singular blink. We call it Augtober now because Halloween is more prevalent than beach wear & umbrella drinks. It’s insane how fast the seconds seem to tick by.

Now is also the time most people are contemplating whether it’s worth it to book the family photos again. Will the stress be worth it? Will I even like the photos? I know that’s running through your head when you see a photographers deal or a photo that makes you want to say yes despite the worry.

I agree with all those things but challenge you with this. What if you took the photos? What if you liked seeing a small moment in time captured in its most genuine way possible? What if it became less about perfection and more about just being? Existence is a beautiful thing, especially when you take the time to actually revel in it.

Grab your village & book the shoot. Take the extra second to enjoy your small baby fitting in the nook of your husband’s saddle. Laugh at the man holding the fan to make things easier on you. Remember the small stuff cause it all goes by way too fast!

Reworking these photos had me thinking a lot about seasons.

I took these a few months ago when everything seemed to be going wrong. I hobbled around on a broken foot trying to pretend everything was normal. In the original edits, I felt the struggle. Truly - I could see in the angles just how much everything wasn’t coming together.

Tackling them now, I feel like I’m entering into a brand new season. I feel a lot happier with the edits & don’t want to cringe looking at the RAWs any longer. I can see the beauty of Bradi & her journey into a new season of motherhood. I can see the prettiness of my journey, too.

I guess I typed all that to say, I’m excited to see what this change in season brings. I can’t wait for fall & the cleansing air. I can’t wait to work with my regular families & those that tag along this year too. Finally, I’m ready to see the leaves change & feel that soft breeze against my skin.
