Would it be strange if I hung this in my own home? Joking, I think.

But, seriously, this family was stunning. And this sky and the beach this evening, perfection. To think, I almost made the call to reschedule this. That's why it's so important to wait until the day of to check the forecast.... or sometimes just a couple hours before.

Taking a break from fun content for some beach safe tips from a local... and it's all about that tiny pop of color just to the left of her head.

Beach flags, they'll help you know the conditions of the gulf and they are here to help keep you safe. I know vacations are all about fun, but recognizing these flags and knowing what they mean can help make sure your trip stays fun.

Red flags mean dangerous conditions. Max swimming depth is up to your knee, but honestly, my kids aren't getting in that and neither am I. If you're here vacationing with kids or not confident swimmers, I would avoid this completely. Head to the sound side of the island where conditions are -usually- calm. Yellow flags mean swim with caution so proceed carefully and have a plan B in place if you're not comfortable.

Double red flags mean the beach is closed for swimming. Surf conditions are so dangerous that no swimming is allowed. Please take this seriously.

These flags can be found in multiple places around Pensacola Beach (not just that tiny one at the end of the pier). There are tons of other things you can do on vacation when swimming conditions are unsafe but it always amazes me the amount of kids I see swimming in rough surf. Our beaches are beautiful but dangerous. Keep yourself, your family, and others (who may come to your rescue should the need arise) around you safe by not swimming in unsafe surf.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE meeting new families! Always. But, these families that return year after year.... the ones that include me in their vacation planning, that sometimes even check my calendar before booking their trips... the ones that don't say bye at the end of the session, but instead say, "see you next year". You guys are the absolute best.

There are a few families like this one, who I've photographed year after year and I get to see their kids grow up. It feels like picking back up with good friends each summer. Thank you from the absolute bottom of my heart. You have no idea how much joy it brings me to get to be a small part of your summer memories!
